Today I recieved my first pair of contact lenses. I was supposed to wear glasses from age 10 on, but got away with not wearing them most of the time until I was 18. At that point I wore them only for driving and occasionally in class to see the board better. My first and second years of college I sat towards the front, but didn't really need my glasses much. Junior and senior year glasses became a necessity for seeing the board. In the past year I have pretty much wore them constantly.

I've considered contacts on and off for years, but the whole putting something directly on your own eyeball thing was rather offputting. But as I've had to wear them more and more I've gotten more serious about it. So last week as I was walking by an optometrist, I saw their ad for 3 months of contacts and an eye exam for about $100. I needed to update my prescription anyways, so I took the plunge.

Life is so weird without my glasses. I drove home today from the train without glasses on...for the first time in I have no idea how long. I also keep reaching up to touch my face.

lol...

I'm loving it.

Coolio. I've got a pair of contacts somewhere, but I rarely wear them anymore. Wore them everyday from about 7th grade until I was 25 or so, but started wearing my glasses again once I started working. Being nearsighted, it's easier to read with nothing on my eyes, so staring at a computer screen is easier if I just take my glasses off, and I can't do that with contacts.

And, shallow pixie that I am, I get more complements with the glasses on. :)

I is jealous.

I would have to wear the horribly expensive ones to be able to wear any. And I am just too cheap to shell out that kind of money every year. I'll have to keep my glasses.

Damn my bad eyes.

DN, glad to hear you are enjoying the lenses. I'm assuming you got the soft lenses. I used to have the soft extended wear lenses but my eyes were too sensitive. My eyes would get dry, and then the lenses would stick to my eye balls, whereas they are supposed to float on the surface of the eye. I could also only wear then for about three days whereas they were suppoosed to be good for seven days. Anyway, I finally gave up on them.

Im glad your loving your contacts! I definally love mine!
I would be so lost without mine.

One of theses days this poor gal is going to be able to afford to get a second pair just for fun and have colored contacts.
I would love to see what i look like with green eyes. :D

Btw.... i have killer blue eyes. :p

Good for you!

I had a really hard time getting contacts in so I'm stuck with my glasses.

Try having astigmatism: it makes your hunt for contacts THAT much more crazy! But, when you find them, oh baby!

Congrats on your new lenses, Naughty! Can't wait to see your new face! :D

give Purvision extended wear contacts a try. 3 months without removing them... that is nice

Hey, congrats. It's alway great to consider better things. Hell, I've worn glasses since I was nine and considered contacts a couple of times, but honestly, I look less ugly with them on...

Check again, you might be surprised.

I was never able to afford them in highschool 350$ a pair, because my eyes are so bad, but I just looked into them, and they said only $150 for 1 years worth. I about shit! These are disposibles, but not weekly. The only ones they make for my eyes are every 2 months, but hey, Its getting there.

I wish................ I've worn mine, glasses that is, for 30 years now. The contacts that I am sometimes able to force onto my eyeballs are toric lenses, disposable, at the rate of $60.00 a pop. Oh, I do so enjoy them on vacations and the like, yet for a permanent replacement for glasses?

Nah......... right now, way too epensive!
