I dunno about you, but when I look around I don't see very many people saying this new year is going to be great for them. Mostly what I see, and hear, is "keep your head down... just keep your head down and it'll get better..."
That's what happens when a virus kills 350K people, Timmy. The common folk like yourself tend to get nervous.
As that isn't the topic in question, I will assume you're answering another thread.
Actually, it is the topic at hand.
If you haven't noticed, there doesn't seem to be a lot of celebrating going on. Few people are making new years resolutions because they don't have anything they want to change that THEY can do anything about. In fact, doom & gloom beyond everyone's control seems to be the prevailing mood almost everywhere. And I'm not talking about anything having to do with Covid.
more ciggies and booze
less losers in the news
As the threadstarter, I can assure you that it is not the topic at hand.
To reiterate, the topic is "what are your new year's resolutions?"
Whether there's not a lot of celebrating going on (as though one can only take resolutions to heart if there's celebrating to be had) or your silly notion that they don't have anything they want to change that THEY can do anything about (feel free to pick one: eating healthier, weight loss, mental wellness, read more/netflix less, take up a hobby, clean out the cluttered living spaces), well, I'm really not sure why you're bringing the blah blah.
Maybe you have no resolutions. But seeing as how you and the champkian up there seem to have identical leaps of illogic, maybe a resolution for you would be to cut down on the alt-making.
It seems to me that the logic fail is yours whereby you cannot seem to grasp the simple concept that few are participating in this thread "because they don't have much they want to celebrate/change/alter in their lives."
People who are looking forward tend to embrace change or a chance to improve themselves. Those who have little to hope for tend to remain static.
Maybe your new year's resolution should be to pay more attention in class?
