I Have To Say This (especially for Laurel)

I've been a contributing writer and forum member of Lit since late 1999. I've seen alot of members come and go and some even returned. Needless to say, I've had my disagreements with quite a few fellow Literoticans, not excluding Laurel....LOL. But in the past, Laurel and alot of other members often commented on the First Amendment and the glorification of it. While I agreed with it entirely, I don't think I commented much because politics is one of few items I stand neutral on in order to avoid any controversy.

However, I can honestly say that I've never appreciated that Amendment and the organization of this board as much as I did for the past couple of months.

Due to an occupational injury, I've been out of the gym for a while. So to prepare myself for my training, I spent hours on the computer doing some research. I searched and researched as much as I can about powerlifting training, nutrition, supplements, and (dare I say it) drugs/growth hormones. [Pretty much what I mentioned in your PM, Myst]

You may have rarely seen me on the board lately. For the past 2 months, I've been on several other boards that pertain to weight training and anabolic steroids. Which is where the point comes..........You see, there is one guy on one of the main boards where I post and about 3 guys were accusing him of ripping them off (scamming). That is, they would place orders from him and he never delivered the orders and kept the money. And the guy sweared that he does not sell. Well, one of the accusers made an accusation that the guy's name was on a list of scammers on another board. Needless to say, practically all of the forum members there wanted to make these accusers disappear. So I took it upon myself to check out the mentioned boards but I found that the guy's name was no where on any "scammer's list". However, I did find the name of the forum/website owner on the list. Practicing my 1st Amendment, I reported what I found. I explained to everyone that the accused was not on any list but the webowner was. And wouldn't you know it? The webowner (who is hardly ever online) got upset and deleted that thread.

Most of you guys know how I would drag a matter for as long as I can until I am proven right.........LOL. (That's the Geraldo Rivera in me-Sorry) So, as you may expect, I made another thread only this time, I criticized how the members of the forum were being denied the use of their 1st Amendment since the webowner can delete whatever he dislikes on the board. Was I right or wrong? I only posted info that the members needed to know.

As I mentioned earlier, I've stepped on a few feet here and apologized accordingly. I don't think I have to mention the thread that I posted some 2 years ago called "THE MOOD IS ABOUT TO CHANGE!!". I made quite a few accusations and criticisms. But despite the fact that it applied to Laurel, in a sense, Laurel allowed it to remain on the board. Hell, it's probably still buried under the millions and millions of threads. But still in all, it's on the board.

I read the "WAIVER" a couple of hours ago and realized just how great this board seems to be. You wouldn't believe how those guys spit on the thread about practicing our 1st Amendments.
So my hat goes off to you, Laurel, and to all of the many Literoticans who practically preached the importance of our freedom of speech on this and any board.

Something that I forgot to mention

In this board that I am referring, you cannot post the link of another website, especially another "roid" website.

I made that mistake, if you want to call it that, and the post was deleted.

Let's all cheer for the 1st Amendment, guys.

If the other site deletes you, they are not infringing upon your First Amendment freedoms.

What you did was cool, and what they did was not, but you have to understand that the First Amendment does not apply to web sites where you can post. Even Literotica. If Laurel wants to delete your thread above, for example, she can, with no worries about trampling free speech.

Your right to free speech does not mean that Laurel, or any other web master, or newspaper, for that matter, has to provide you with a forum.

In other words, if you have something to say, you are free to start web site and say it. And if someone wants to print Anti-semetic views on your web site, you have every right to say, "Um, I respect your opinion, but, um, no, go away, you're deleted." You, also, are not required to provide them with a forum.

So, yes, Laurel celebrates the spirit of free speech here, but she is under no obligation to provide First Amendment priveleges to us. I think you're right to laud here, but I do think this is an important distinction to make.

You're right Dixon. When one developes a website, they are not obligated to create a forum.

However when a forum is created in a website, the Webmaster is inviting the opinions, thoughts, and advise of others. In the few years here in Literotica, I've seen many threads/posts that would mention other erotica websites and they were left on the board, out of respect for the person who posts them. But the board in question would never allow anyone to post anything about any other websites. That should not be any type of violation.

But don't get me wrong DCL, I see your point as well.

Thanks DCL

I went to the doctor yesterday and was given the "go ahead" to return to work on full duty (I was on light duty for over a month). Technically, I was still performing moderate duties but it screwed me up from working overtime and holidays.

As far as the love of my life....the gym, I was advised to continue training but not powerlifting. It appears that I have CTS in the right wrist that was obviously caused by my years of powerlifting. So until I feel that I can handle the heavy weights, I'll concentrate on cardiovascular and weight training as a bodybuilder until I feel that I can handle the real stuff......LOL

That bites. The Stud had to stop training for six months last year. He started up recently and all I hear these days is "Thank god for muscle memory!!!!"

Hope ya get into IFBB shape soon. *snort chortle*

:)

On the other side of the issue, I occasionally visit two other boards, story writing and erotica kind of things. They are both heavy on the censorship. At least in my direction. I don't post at either one often anymore.
