I have enough to have a different av every single day of any month of any year. Isn't that kinda shocking in some fundamental way?

Should i thin the herd?
Should i use a different one every day, alpha order?
Should i give some away?
Should i just do as i've been doing and use the same handful over and over?
Should i email them to a few and let them choose for me?

Y'all haven't even seen all of them... yet.

How did i get so many? How did it happen? (Partly, i know, it's cuz of april-wine! She comes up with *perfect* for me pics all the time.)

What should i do with all these avs?
Anything?
Nothing?
Any ideas?

I have a few stored away but find I'd rather just see what suits my different moods. I enjoy seeing different ones, and find you can learn different things about people by recognizing their choices.

I would alternate as your mood shifts and changes.:)

I'm the same way. I've got dozens. I mostly only use 4 or 5, though.

I like the way you do it. You've got a few regulars, and occasionally a new one appears, often briefly. The av selection and display process says as much about us as the actual picture, don't you think? Why censor yourself? Do whatever ya damn well please, honey. :D As I'm *constantly* telling you.

Oh, wait. I'm usually telling you to do whatever *I* damn well please. I'm always forgetting the difference.

Sorry, I just had to use one of the new icons. Okay, maybe just one more. Heh. New toys are fun.

I think you should put together in a 5x6 square and post them as one icon, like a quilt.

wohooo!! this is my second avatar... i still probably going to use the lips from time to time :D

Being AV less and having no hope for having one soon I can't relate to having one and a few reserves but I will say I miss WriterDom's flogger. That AV hurt me.

You'll be shocked at how easy it is to rack up lots of posts in this place. It's not hard at all. Someday, I seriously hope to reach 500, but I don't post enough.

I can't see 'em so it doesn't make that much of a difference to me, cymbi, take your pick and go with your own personal flow.

I have four. This one and three shots of the same bull. I keep this one because most people recognize it and know to skim past what's posted next to it. Solves problems. Though I do like the bull...

I have noticed, when I switch avs, that there's a big difference in how people treat what I post. I am thinking of going back to no av because I don't like the way the av biases my words.

KM

Don't lose the AV because of what others think.

If they change what they say because of the sight of your AV then they are clearly not worthy of much response.

Personally I hope you keep the AV, it brightens up my day!

I will take the blame for avatar overload lol......But some of those images are just too damn good to go by.........Maybe a new one everyday till all are used then, keep the few you really like and give the rest away......

I will try and stay away from avs cym lol.....For now;)

"Wearing" and av is like "wearing" clothing. It's the physical appearance that you choose to convey to those you are interacting with. Your physical appearance directly affects the way people perceive you. Whether this is right or wrong is up for debate, but it is an unmitigated fact. People judge and are judged by their appearance.

When I was "wearing" my bull av, the one where he was glaring with horns pointed at my post, the responses I received were more defensive and they were also more hostile. Even when I was doing nothing more than flirting. When I "wore" my bull av, the one where he was flying with a silly expression on his face, I wasn't taken seriously no matter what I wrote.

I went back to "wearing" my ass with a gun av that people have grown used to. I find that newer folk who don't know me tend to treat me warily or in a very leery way. This has been going on since I put the av up.

Different threads are different situations. There are party threads. There are sex threads. There are debate threads. There are fighting threads. There are also threads on other boards that I participate in where they are, essentially, academic. I wouldn't wear a lampshade to a debate. I wouldn't wear a g-string and tassles to a fight. I wouldn't wear a white buttoned shirt with glasses and a bun to an orgy. I wouldn't bring a gun to a party. I can't modify my av to go with each type of thread that I participate in. I can only have one av at a time.

What you "wear" to your posts at Literotica affect the way people perceive and treat you. We are a visual people, when we see someone we treat that person based on the things we've learned to associate with that person's appearance.

Next time you're in a crowded place with a variety of people, pay attention to what they are wearing and look like. Then pay attention to how you are reacting to that.

I can say screw them, it's my av and I can do what I want whether they like it or not. Just like I can say screw them, if I want to wear ripped jeans, combat boots, and a t-shirt that says death from above to a job interview, I can whether they like it or not. I can do it. I just won't get the reaction from those around me that I desire.

Here, I am my words. My av gets in the way of my words by warping perception.

I like all your av's. Rotate, girl. They all suit you. You got style.

I'd say rotate according to your mood. I've got several, mostly on a shichiseki theme, and I just switch every time I get bored of looking at the same one.

I switch when I get bored.

I really like my current one because I wish I was a crime fighter and could kick some "evil guys ass!"

I think you wear them well, cym.
I think there was only one I didn't like.
Next time you wear one long enough that I get concerned for your circulation, I'll let you know.

But a fashion show with a poll might be nice:rose:

KM…brings up a lot of very interesting points..

It’s very interesting the way a picture is worth a thousand words…

A new person -not yet reading a thousand of your words that form your persona flavor- will indeed view the picture first, which sets the general idea what kind of person you are..while your words begin to slowly take weight.

I remember seeing people’s avatars and knowing the person in that context.. before I registered their names, individually.

And some avs will be judged quickly..think of how a lot of people knee~jerk upon viewing a Dollie.

And we all know some women immediately receive a lot of “manly” attention when they use sexual avs.

“Hey! Lookie there! A tit! Gotta hit on her!..Damn, she must be easy…because hey well, I see a TIT!”

An avatar is like a new haircut or a favorite pair of jeans. Some are for comfort and some create a fresh new look. I change mine according to mood. I do think it's funny how some people are 'attracted' to me simply on the basis of whatever avatar is currently up, but I am also guilty of being slightly drawn to someone on that same basis.

I have an arsenal of them and add to my collection every week. I did a little housekeeping this weekend and deleted those that I felt I would never use.

I have typically tried to avoid those that demonstrate overt sexuality or any emotional state. For the above reasosn stated by KM. Once in a while I get a wild hair and put up some goofy one, but mostly I try to stay neutral while still being identifiable.

I usually just put up whatever catches my attention, use it for a while, then delete it and move on to another.
This one, of course, is special.
Its only a half-pic, the other half is someone elses avatar...
But I'll leave it to all of you to figure out who she is.
