After putting some time and thought, I put pen to paper and wrote my feedback to each of the three chapters of the story "SEPERATE LIVES". In short, I loved the first chapter, liked the second and the third did not work for me. I always try to support my opinions with reasoning, and that is what I did this time as well. The intense reaction of three readers was amazing. They used all forms of response typical to extreme intolerance to dissenting views, plus an effort to intimidate and insult. Nothing of substance though. One of the responses includes the title NAZI.
I found the need to respond to these extreme reactions by: A. Using humor and demonstrating with an anecdote how those who do not have a point “scream and yell “ instead. B. By exposing each of the techniques used by those who did not like my view (and about six other people in that particular forum) C. By calling to ignore thiese kind of reactions and offering to have a civil literary debate to the merit of any point that people might differ on . I suggested that these debates should be in honor of the author of the story and in order to demonstrate that LITEROTICA FORUM is not equal to its weakest links.
I was stunned to find out that I was censored. My Call for civil discourse was censored .The four letter words including the title NAZI are still there! What is wrong here!
I am afraid to put here my original feedback because I may be censored again. I need your feedback. I feel that this censoring is like a stab in the back. What happened to freedom of speech? Should I try and post my 'horrible' feed back on this forum for your judgement?
To the Editor: I am especially heart when calls such as: ‘too much space is given for people of this opinion or the label NAZI remain on the forum’s board, (I don’t have a quarrel with that) but my feedback is censored. Frankly, I am stunned

Each author has the ability to delete comments placed upon their stories. While it may be heinously unfair for them to delete your posting, it is within their right.

I've not received much negative feedback, but that which I have, I leave in place and let the people who disagree (myself included) rebutt the argument. The only post I have deleted is one that contained a URL - to my own site no less, but it violates Lit's policy about posting, so I deleted it. Had the guy just come there to slag me, I would have left it.

Trying to force some authors to keep their posts, even those they dislike, then they will simply opt to turn off public commenting. If it becomes not an option, then some will pull their stories altogether. Some people do not like even well-thought-out criticism, and will delete it. I would advise simply not reading such insecure individuals' works. When you have something you wish to say (which all authors, by definition, do), being ignored is far more painful than being disagreed with.

The comment/voting system is pretty much FUBAR anyway, so I wouldn't put much emotion into it. The comments sent directly to me mean much more than the ones posted to the tail end of my stories. I simply wish they were more common.

Who "censored" your comments?

If the site owners didn't permit them to be there in the first place, that could be called censorship.

But if the author removed them after you placed them there, that's their option, isn't it?

Could it be my call for a debate?

I posted my feedback on the area for public feedback of readers to posted stories. My feed back was there on the day I posted it, but next day it was gone!. To make sure that this is not an accident, I posted my deedback again-same story. Or should I say same no story -my message was "elimimated again!.
I never contacted the author directly, again,I was always on the area of the public comments only.
I feel particularly offended because many of my family members were victims of the Nazis yet the mwssage that labels me as one is there (AND CAN STAY THERE FOR ALL I CARE) but my call civil debate was censored!

The author of the story can delete any of the public comments he or she wishes to. The owners of the site have nothing to do with it. Any comments deleted from the public comments area of a story are done so by the author.

Exactly. The author has removed your comments, so posting your complaints on an open forum is useless.

If you have difficulties with the removal of your comments, you should contact the author.

Another option is to post your comments about their comments at the end of your own story. That way you can be assured that they'll be left up.

Thank you for the clarification!

It was a huge relief for me to realize that it is the option of each author to keep or remove feedback. It put things in a totally new light. I want to thank those who patiently took the time to explain the “rules of engagement “. My apologies to the moderator.
Now I have follow up question to the experts. If I take my comments to this forum can an author still remove them?

On the forum, only mods can remove posts. And they will if they deem it to be off topic.

you're having fun on text trouble as well aren't you?
your feedback is welcome, but don't use my story as a forum to bounce your vitriol at another PC poster.
As the lady says, write your story...

ON censorship

An author removing your comments from his own comment board is not true censorship. The author is simply eliminating your words from an area for which he is responsible and has complete control. That you can comment at all is purely up to that author. Consequently, while you may dislike having your comments removed from the area, you post them at your own risk and only with the blessings of the author.

This does not constitute as censorship any more than me telling you not to swear in my house constitutes censorship. You can still say what you want - just not there.

PC's differ from feedback by the public nature. AS a rule of thumb, if I have something positive to say, I'll make a PC. If I have something negative to say, I'll send a feedback.

In either case, the author gets the information, but by not posting the negative I don't prejudice readers who check the feedback portal fora good read.

It's your call of course, but some authors remove negative feedback of any kind, some remove specific kinds of negative feedback, some leave it all up.
