Oh my goodness!

When my gal pal asked me to babysit her 7 month old son for a few days while her and the dude went to the beach I really didn't think it was such a big deal...... After all.. I've had 2 children of my own. My "baby" is 8ys old.. that wasn't so long ago right?!?!

I brought him home last night.. abt 1:30am.. the dogs woke him up as I brought him in. Poor thing looked around, looked at me and then the girls and just started crying his little eyes out. The girls went to bed and closed thier doors tightly haha.. I had a time getting him to sleep. I wasn't sure if he was used to sleeping with his mom or on his own. If he was rocked to sleep or just cried himself to sleep. Talk abt nervous and stressing!!!!

man... I've made it halfway thru the 1st day with a few more to go. Why do I feel like I am totally outta my league here? hahaha

prayers, blessings, and incantations PLEASE!!!! haha

~sending lots of sympathy to you~

I'm not a baby person. I've never been one to coo and cluck and talk baby talk to babies. I didn't do any babysitting when i was of babysitting age, and "mother" was never one of my main life goals.

Nonetheless, i have two beautiful, healthy, intelligent, well-mannered children whom i love with something approaching madness. I think i might kill anyone who badly hurt either of them.

I don't want anymore kids, though, and definitely no babies. Not even as loaners. Babies spit up and cry and poop and wake up at inconvienent hours. In payment, one sometimes gets a coo or a gurgle or a bright shiny baby smile.

Tough it out, SK, and the next time you have an urge to volunteer for this kinda thing, take a moment to remember... and then, why, just say no.

SK i would let you baby sit me . . .

if i got feeding rights. *making suckling noises*

lol too funny!

actually... i think babies identify important ppl in their life by certain trademarks... his mommy has long long hair, larger breasts, longer (and thicker) torso than i do. So when I hold him... he is like grabbing at my neck, searching for the long hair i guess. He tried to go to sleep this afternoon on my chest but was real restless. He pushes at my chest and stomache with his hands and knees, trying to nestle into flesh that isn't there, so it seems.

I think i got the 'putting him to sleep' part down pat.. he's sleepin like a baby (haha imagine that) right now :D

now as far as feeding rights go..... u are very much more than welcomed to suckle all you want.... would have to feed you somethin else so u wouldn't go hungry hehe :p

hang in there SK

babysitting and being a grandparent have something in common.

after a few hours, the little darlings GO HOME!!

just think of the good things to come when they leave...peace, quiet, sanity LOL
i dont think i could handle babysitting any more. my 2 are grown up now and i like the peace and quiet.
you are more brave than i

You're in my prayers.
he, he - j/k

You'll do fine. Tell yourself that you must be one hell of a person for them to trust you with their child and go from there.

yeah *smiles* i know u r right blackbich

my friend left me a note in the babybag.. she wrote it as if it were the baby talking to me.. it was so sweet.. i almost cried. the fact that she would be willing to go out of town and leave her baby with me for a few days means so much to me... shows me how much i am valued
