nothing worse when I make sure to get somewhere early and the other person doesn't have the decency to at least be on time.

sigh.

it's not about decency, oh whining one. some people just have scattered, disorganised minds and never get it together to be on time. being shite at time keeping comes as naturally to them as natural to them as 5 minutes early comes to the rest of us.

ps. whiner.

Fuck that. I'm with you. It's a waste of people's time and it's fucking rude. There are legit reasons why people are late, of course. But if perpetually late people can't get their shit together, then stop making plans.

It's like agreeing to a price for something and then trying to pay less for it because it's tough to pay what I originally agreed upon because I manage money poorly.

it's in their nature. so, yes, just stop making plans with them.

my sister once made me late for a funeral. seriously. she's late for everything, but a funeral?! i'm always five minutes early, and I spend a lot of time wanting to kill her :)

I tend to avoid making plans with late people. Or I tell them a time that is earlier than I need them. In their nature or not, it's still fucking rude. Just because it's in someone's nature to be a selfish bastard doesn't mean it's acceptable or should be tolerated. Sometimes you do just have to set plans with late people. Some things aren't that important. Some are.

I would have shit bricks rather than be late to a funeral. It would have just as well been a double funeral, because I would have murdered my late sister. Ooooh. That word works in both ways.

If you are waiting to give someone a ride and they are making you late, leave them. If you are waiting for them to give you a ride, then you're on their time so therefore you are not late.

no, I choose to believe that it's like being dyslexic. they are unable to clearly read the time between and the time it takes. they don't plan to be late but it somehow always happens.

and that belief keeps sisters alive.

I have friends that do that to me alllll. The time I tell them I am going to be there earlier than I am do they are there on time...

Nah, it all balls down to them not caring. If they really cared, they won't not be late.

Very few things are really that important to be exactly on time for, anything that is, I only depend on myself to get there on time.
I am usually early to appointments, but I bring a book.

I agree. You can't depend on someone taking you somewhere and say that they're the reason why you are late. In my eyes, you are the reason why you were late, for depending on a undependable person anyway. Me agreeing to take you somewhere means that you are on my time, and it's impossible for me to be late, when I am dealing with my own time.

Well you choose a much more optimistic view of why they are late. I choose the more realistic version which is their self centered nature.

You can't change dyslexia. You can change chronic tardiness. If they are late to every single thing in the history of ever, then maybe I could believe that. Except nearly every person, when threatened with severe punishment or loss of job would be on time.

Take this example:

If you sister were to be late to a court appearance, the judge would automatically sentence her to pay a $5k fine. Do you think she would be on time?

If the answer is yes, then she has the ability to be on time and just simply chooses to be late at other times and places little value on the time of others.

A dyslexic person can't not be dyslexic given dire circumstances.

I have a tendency to be right on time for things or just a few minutes late. Rarely early. It is neither selfish nor dyslexia-like in nature but rather symptomatic of a much too packed schedule.

I don't care what you're late for, except fishing...if you're late, its the last time you're going with me

You should put her down.

ha! last week she was complaining that when we go out I always put her down. how to explain that between fretting about our late arrival and stressing about our drawn out departure, I would like to put her down in a more literal sense?

One of my friends is usually about 15 mins late, so I ask her to pick me up a 1/2 hr before time, and that usually works.
