If we knew the answer of why, perhaps we could spot them easier. I'm sure part of it is attention. I guess for some people it doesn't matter how they get the attention they're seeking as long as they get it.

I feel much the same way. So many new posters come here, and I am automatically suspicious that they are aliases of posters who are already here. I feel that way about some people who have been here for a couple of months already, that they signed on with another lit name just to fuck with everyone.

I'm almost scared too scared to talk with anyone here anymore.

You must be reading way more lately than I am, Siren. As far as the multiple-personality disorders go, I've been getting little comments here and there, and some outright accusations from "oldies" about who is who and all that. I've seen a lot of people get fingered for this activity, and quite a few turn out to be innocent. I guess a lot of it seems to come down to popularity and party lines.

I'm still amused when I think of the time I was accused of being Sparky Kronkite and R Nitelight. In those days, Sparky was banging out some really long posts, and Nitelight was doing a couple thousand posts a day, and people still wanted to believe I was doing all three personas, day after day after day. As ridiculous and impossible as it was, the accusation stood, hell, I didn't even know you could do that.

I take all these allegations with a bucket of salt. Half-ass detective work lives on...and I'm pretty sure who HighSchoolJock is, but I'm not going to say.
