The present Mrs K bought a series of Time-Life cookery books years ago, when we first started living together- some 28 years ago.

Any time I want to try something new or look up a recipe I draw a blank.

This afternoon I wanted a recipe for cannelloni. I took down the book titled 'Sauces'.

No cannelloni.

So I made up an onion and cream sauce instead.

The family enjoyed it. One to do again.

Such is life.

It's in the volume entitled Pasta, pg 127 Cannelloni Laziali, though I don't recommend it, unless you like lamb's brain. Don't think you can even buy them any more. Glad to see we were not the only ones sucked into the Time-Life spree :D

So it gives you - inspiration?

It makes you - resourceful?

But kudos on making a dish the entire family enjoys. :)

(That's damn difficult around my house these days. Son is going through finicky food phases. This too, shall pass.)

The best recipes are those you invent. :D

Sounds a bit plain to me at this point, but you never grew up in a resaurant. ;)

Not so plain.
I chopped up an onion, added garlic, some white wine and then vegetable stock.
1/2 pt cream and some milk when it had reduced. Spring onions finely chopped, and chorizo slices added just before serving.
Fresh fusilli pasta, a side salad, and home baked herb wholemeal bread.

I opened a bottle of barolo, seeing as I prefer red wine.

Fresh fruit salad for dessert.

Sounds a bit plain to me - no offence - I grew up with chefs. ;) (the C-blu ones).

Okay. It's plain.

But fresh and tasty.

Besides, the kids will eat almost anything if it's not moving. :catroar:

I have recently learned that "not my kids" love Mac and cheese. :D Is a good source of FUN I guess.

As Mick Dundee said

You can eat it. Tastes like shit...

To a previous post- We have 22 volumes. No pasta one.

Gotta go.
Nearly 1am here.

Kids have rugby and hockey tomorrow morning.
I'm on the school run.
