So, I had my first car accident Tuesday and it will be deemed my fault. The cars in front of me all stopped short for a bus just as I was glancing at the clock (I was on the way to an appointment,) and I slid on the melted snow and rearended a van. It got a few scrapes on its bumper whereas my hood and grate and bumper and headlight and sundry other things needed replacing. My car is my baby, the first car bought by me, bought new, and I had a clean driving record before this, so it's somewhat depressing. Due to the magic powers of my parents' insurance (one of the reasons I'm still under it) my premium will not increase, so that's a good thing. When I picked up the car yesterday it was all clean and shiny! They managed to remove the maple syrup stains from the back seat! So that's good too. But it's an experience I'd rather not have had ever.
Maybe I should get snow tires.

ETA: "I'm sorry I'm late, I had a car accident on the way here" is the best excuse EVER.

Oh hells, gracie, I was braking, I didn't get hurt at all. We hit at a very slow speed. Neither of us was more than shaken. If I'd been any luckier I wouldn't have hit her at all. She was very understanding and even told me some of the info I should get from her. I didn't get her insurance info but I had her name and address and car make and licence plate # and her DL number and her phone number. I expect the insurance just called her and asked her for the info. I went to my appointment and then I went to my mum's school and sat in her class and she had me write out what happened and call in the accident. We didn't even go to the police accident reporting thingie. I'm not sure how I was supposed to feel but mostly I felt shocked and depressed.

I'm just glad you're ok. *hugs* Drink some tea, take deep breaths.
