I'm leaving for vacation this weekend. We'll be gone a week, riding and camping and kayaking. I can't wait to get in the truck and get out of here!
But I haven't even started packing yet. I still need to clean and oil all the saddles and stuff so they don't fall apart in the river... I need to get grain and hay loaded into the truck... I need to make sure all my camping gear is still where I left it last time.
All I've managed to do is make a list of things I need to do, and locate the first aid kit for the horses. I'm hoping someone else brings a human one. I also got the required blood tests for the horses, but they're not back from the state lab yet, and I can't get a hold of anyone there to see if they're going to get here in time.
I just got confirmation last night that someone will be keeping my kids for me while I'm gone. My husband just called and 'would really appreciate it' if I'd locate and pack his fly-fishing gear. (as if there are any fish stupid enough to remain in the same part of the river as 1500 people and horses).
I can't find my favorite bridle. It's got my favorite bit attached to it. It's gone. Vanished. Lost in the ether. So is my not-so-favorite-but-good-for-summer-trail-riding saddle pad. I'm pissed. I know someone has them in their locker at the stable, but I can't do a search. I'm going to be watching every piece of tack that's loaded on Friday. I did find 1 shipping boot for my husband's horse. What good does 1 shipping boot do me?
