I hate it when

I want to know what you thought of London...

Scotland's OK I guess but being a stictly Southerner I've never been there! Never had the time before but probably will go in the near future. Always wanted to...

Now tell me about London. Did you go there? did you like it? (oh yes you can tell the truth. We've had a few soul searching threads on Lit and we've all found our inner selves so you can tell me what you really think!), Did you like he people?

I'll be back soon to see you're reply...just going to make a cuppa tea.

:)

Re: London

LONDON

1) The people are more reserved-at elast that's how most people I know put it

2) Buckingham Palaca didn't inspire any sense of awe whatsoever, the Tower was nice-as long as I didn't think of how badly the English raped India

3) this elderly lady was trying to take her seat next to us as the tube started to move-she knocked into my sister, and my sis's coffee spilled all over the lady

4) Here's this 70yr old woman buy herself on the subway-and wshe's just been scalded by coffee-and the only people to pay any attnetion at all were my sister and myself. It was weird.

5) I went to return a dress-tag still attached, though I'd lost the reciept. The salesclerk accused me of stealing it.

6) The women there dress differently, more skirts and dresses-and everyone is ALWAYS wearing heels. They speak softly and while setting a brisk pace-they don't seem to tke up as much space as American women. They're not really boisterous-unless they're pissed

7) To be honest, I didn't notice much difference in NY and London. They only time the sence of history struck me-in London at least, was when I was sitting in Trafalger square at dusk, I have expected people to walk by in Victorian dress.

Nice observations and comments. I'm going to enjoy reading about the rest of your trip...

Oh yeah...

Welcome Back!

:D

Hey CB. Glad to see you back. I'm just recently back, myself, and it takes a long time to get a sense of the board again. I'd like to hear more about your trip.

Welcome back! I was interested in your comments on London, too. I described it the same when I was there- it felt just like being in New York. I didn't find such a difference in the people though. For me, the smiling and being polite approach worked. The people in London were just as friendly as anywhere else. I was there with my mom though, and she is disabled. We always wondered if that made a difference- if people were nicer to us because of her mobility restrictions.

Would love to hear more about your trip!

CB

Welcome back. You've definatly been missed around these parts. Guess I'll jump in on the "want to hear more about your trip" bandwagon. lol It's great to see you back.

:)

Hey CB!!

It's great to have you back! I would love to hear all about your trip. Tell me, what was the most memorable thing that happened?

Copied from CelestialBody's post:

My hotel was at Kings Cross and I was alone- classes had long since ended and the girl I was travelling with had flown home that day-the hotel is quite literally across the street from the train station -on Crestview.

Yes I know the area well. I'm surprised you were placed there, or did you choose it yourself not knowing the type of area it is?

Like any city the streets around a main railway station are an attraction for drug dealers, drug users, alcoholics, prostitutes, pickpockets and other savoury low life, and I'm afraid at night that's Kings X.

Funnily enough though during the day it's quite a thriving commercial area. And being a main changing point for buses, tubes and trains gets very, very crowded...

Sorry you had that bad moment but pleased you enjoyed the rest of your stay. As I said on my previous post, I've always wanted to go to Scotland, especially the Highlands, your description has just made that wish into a definite plan for the autumn (Fall!).

:)

Welcome back CB! Great to see you, and great to read about your trip. Post more! Did you take lots of photos?

Welcome back. I should tell you that while you were gone NASA called and wants to know who the hell you are and why aren't you on any of their charts. We told them, "Look, land ONE fucking thing on Mars without blowing it up, and we'll answer your questions."

one guy who kept asking me if I had a sister named Marie. He was sweating profusely, his eyes red-rimmed and puffy, and was hunched over, as if in fear. Coming from the theater I was, unfortunately walking in heels, when I made it to the hotel and made one the guests escort me to pay phone to calll home.

Welcome back CB. I was going to inquire if you had met anybody from Lit on your sojourn, but from your story it's obvious that you ran across p.p.man:eek: :p
