. . .side by side on the counter. One was the Triscuits which have a fairly high tensile strength for the cracker continuum and the other were crumbly, chicken-in-a-biscuit. The latter I have some vague childhood memory of trying them at a friend's house. I thought the small one might like them. She prefers my Triscuits.

I (intentionally) reached for a biscuit while distracted and brought it to my mouth and it didn't crumble. I did not bite through it. Huh?. I realized that I had grabbed a Triscuit, instead. I never realized that I exert a calculated pressure when biting a particular cracker.

I wonder what other things we do subconsciously that require more precision than we think we are putting into a task.

I see it when I lift something that does not weigh what it "should." When I'm picking something up I don't consciously think of what the thing weighs and how much muscle exertion is required to pick it up at the speed I want to move it.

I've often wondered how they weave those tiny Triscuit fibers together into a square...

Ditto shredded wheat.

Have you looked at ingredients? It's basically just wheat, oil, and water. I'm not sure how that becomes crackers, much less woven ones.
