I had to rewrite

I had a dark story I had to rewrite because of the rules in celebrity and fan fiction. It wasn't the story I originally had written but it is done and I am mostly pleased with it. Normally I'd be way too stubborn to lower myself to do so. I am growing quite soft apparently. I have two more rejected stories in my queue, perhaps I'll have to demean myself to relook at. What of you? Do you stand on ego and pride or do you bend?

I'm not certain what I would do, but knowing myself, I'd probably simply throw the story up on Amazon instead for the Kindle Unlimited crowd to enjoy. I'm quite stubborn when it comes to my art, and am unlikely to change it unless there is an artistic reason for it.

I was thinking of writing the other version and putting it there. I agree with the way you think of it though. It hurt to change it.

The site has never rejected a story that required a rewrite to be acceptable. I did have a story that I knew would be offensive to a lot of potential readers. I held onto it until I devised a less-offensive ending that still preserved most of the original intent.

I don't need to intentionally offend my readers.

Much of my scribbling doesn't stray too far from the 'norm' (I wish Norm had just stayed in the bar and kept quiet), so I don't have to worry to much about that. I've changed a line or two to keep on the right side of the line, but have never been told to do a rewrite.

I have a few stories I can't publish anywhere due to content. I'm fine with keeping those for myself and/or only sharing privately with people who express an interest in my darker work.

A lot of it borders on snuff as dying is something that is both terrifying and desirable to me at various times.

Changing any of those feels dishonest as they were written with the purpose of keeping me alive. It's not so much about pride as it is I don't see the need to change them in order to show people.

I hear you..but I did want it out there...so I caved

Ego? Pride? Sure, but only in the fact that I put out a product I like, for readers to enjoy. I'm an artist but my goal here on Lit is to entertain people. To give people a sexy diversion for an hour or two. Why else post a story?
You can sit upon thy high horse and say, 'I'm an artist, I write for me.' Artists have been saying that since the first cave paintings, but they still want people to see them. Ask yourself why you're here on Lit. To be an artist or to be read?

I never bend. However if I write something that violates the rules of lit, I don't submit it to lit.

I've never had a rejection but if I ever somehow do I'll argue my case and if I lose it I'll just withdraw. My story is my story. Never ever cave or bend.

I mean, if I were here to be read, I'd only write to the popular categories. If I were here to be an artist, I'd write higher quality stuff.

I'm here because I like socializing with people how I can, and this is one of the few ways I can socialize comfortably. I often write barely fictionalized pieces of myself (the more fucked up the story, the more likely it is to have real elements of me and my life in it) and offer them for consumption as people are interested. If they aren't interested, it's no loss to me.

I also tried to publish a story in Celebrity and Fan Fiction that was sent back at least twice for violating the rules. I eventually got it published by taking out the celebrity names altogether and replacing them with initials that didn’t match their real identities.

So I caved, but the end result never sat right with me and after only a couple months I asked that it be changed to a different category. In that new category the story’s score actually increased.

Depends on the work. If it's absolutely necessary for the story to have those details that would've been rejected, then yeah, I stick with it, because the story demands it. But if it's not essential to the story? Then I see no reason I keep it if it means I can publish the story. The story is more important than the details. Yes, the details make the story, but in some cases it's possible to swap out elements and keep the story true, without compromising it.

My ego and pride are insignificant to the sharing of a story. It's just a nice side effect that people actually read what I publish.

I don't think that I have a side of me so dark that it would present an issue in this regard.

There are scenes in some of my stories where the characters think or do "dark" things, and some of these have been reported to the site admin. Fortunately, a review of the content reported, within the context of the story, has always come out in my favor.

In the original story I wrote the lead woman was punished more severely and brought to the brink of a depraved insanity. There was no way it would get through in that category.
I still like that story more but changing it allowed me to run through the rest of the story and get it out of my head. I may try to write the first one still and put it on Amazon. I do think it would be better.

Its not that it was offensive. It just isn't allowed to be written here like that.

Ya, that is how I have felt. I have two stories that have been in my queue for awhile. I

I assume that your decision to rewrite is based upon your interpretation of the guideline:

"Ravishment, nonconsensual, dubiously consensual, or consensual-nonconsensual fantasies involving real-life people, groups/organizations, or copyrighted characters. Literotica does not publish non-con fanfic."

It might have been the wisest choice for you.

Ya. It was either rewrite or change names and categorie. I went back and forth on it.

I am not aware of any submission rules that are different by category. I am curious. Please link me to the rules that differ by category.
Not the link but the exact guideline:

FanFic/Celebrity has always had tougher guidelines due to real people frequently being depicted.
