They said that in some cases they were putting strips of tape over the "Master" and "slave" labels (I read a few versions of the article, including a hillarious one on Morons.org)
I know some people with tatoos that could be sorely (pun intended) hurt by that policy....

We could suggest alternative labels? How about dominant and submissive?

I told you I'd check out your thread...your submitted article was most interesting, and more involved than the one I saw.

Sandoval said that he had already rejected a suggestion that the county stop buying all equipment carrying the "master" and "slave" labels and had no intention of enforcing a ban on such terms with suppliers.
Surely L.A. county couldn't force the whole electronics world to retool their hardware. It will be interesting to see who backs down. Just how long can the county last without its electronics, in this digital age?
"But we are culturally sensitive and we have 90,000 employees," he said. "We have to take these things seriously."
Don't I have any culture? Where is the sensitivity for my offended feelings?

Sandoval added that in addition to the e-mails he's received "telling me how stupid I am and how I should be fired" he has gotten a positive response from some companies willing to reexamine their labels.
That was an interesting statement. Very political, this Sandoval guy.
In June, the Los Angeles city council unanimously passed a law requiring that any companies doing business with the city disclose profits they may have made from slavery in the 19th Century. In 2000, the council supported federal legislation seeking reparations for descendants of slaves.
What a crock of shit. I have black friends who are actually embarrassed that this reparations thing is getting so much ink.

Wasn't it the L.A. school district that tried to sell the country on Ebonics?

me: what's next? you can't refer to light socks as the female connection and plugs as the male

friend: yeah, that would be sexist, or it could teach children naughty behavior
