 I reposted a story today after removing it last year. I was going to use it in a published anthology but I kept getting requests to send it to people in e-mails. After sending it about a hundred times, I decided to ask the editors if it was permissable to repost it.
They saw no problem with it as long as I wasn't trying to win anything with it. I wasn't. I just wanted the readers to have it available again.
So I edited it and reposted it before it popped up on another site with someone elses name as author.
I put in the notes field that it was a repost, but they didn't mention anything in the opening. I got roasted for 'stealing' the story. Has anyone else done this and recieved the same knee jerk reaction?

The name of the story is 'Aunt May'.

Here is the link to offending story:

I pulled a story to rewrite it a bit and then reposted. I added a note at the beginning of the story explaining what was what, and haven't had any complaints.

You can edit the notes to the beginning even though youre story has already posted. Go to your submissions page, click on submit new story, and title the story EDITED: Aunt May. Then paste your story with the notes, or upload your Word doc with the notes already added to it.

Good luck!
