I found a young girls diary(about 18 or 19). It is fantastic reading and could be the basics for a novel or screen play. I have had it for 10 yrs and tried several times to interest someone in using it.
The girl lived in a small louisiana town about 500 people, she was a poor, white, and and lacked opertunity and education to get out. this covers about one year of her life.
Some of the things in it, she gets laid 4 times, written in a very earthy way, she has to move becouse lack of money for rent, her brother gets burned real bad, one of her boyfriends get killed in a truck wreck, she and a girl friend go to the fair, she gets in trouble with the white guys becouse she dates some mexican guys. these seems like everyday things but when you read it you can really feel her pains, pleasures, and understand her longing for a better life and some stability in her life. To do this right you would need to visit this small town(Zawalle) in Louisiana, 60 miles south of Shreveport, to understand the coulture and history, it does have a unique history, not fablous but unique.
I think the right author could turn this into a reverse Steel Magnoua story. And from her own words build a very heart touching, earthy, erotic story.
I know I should have never read it, but I did and I just can't bear to throw it away, after you read it it's like you know her so well.
OK if you want it and you think you have what it takes to make something of it Email me at Snsix@hotmail.com

I wonder if it would be a copyright violation to use someone's diary as a source of writing material. While the events may be similar to common knowledge, the thoughts/emotions are original to the author. Regardless, it *is* pretty immoral to even read a diary without permission, never mind tell stories about it. Still quite tempting, though. I'd get a kick out of it if you A) didn't mention the diary in your story and B) Had a reader respond with positive feedback saying the story hit really close to home.

I don't know about copyright, but it sure does seem like an invasion of privacy. A blog is meant to be read by the world, but a diary is personal and private.
I like the story, but not if it invades ones privacy.

First. As usual love the AV hallowed.

I don't think that it really counts as an invasion of privacy, it depends a lot on where you found the diary and that kind of stuff. Mostly if the woman is still alive. I wouldn't consider anything you got out of my great grandmother, or shit grandmother since I'm out of those too, to be private.

I think it would be an excellent story if it was well written, perhaps in a novel format with each chapter being a day/week/month whatever is most appropriate. Perhaps with header/footer to each chapter to gloss over the things you'd rather not go into detail about.
