I finally finished my first fiction story.

Well, sort of.

It's called "The Weight of the World". I started it two years ago, on my 21st birthday, but because of thing after thing, I kept putting it off and putting it off. I had planned on making it five chapters long, but the ending of the third chapter is more than enough for a good ending, and I wouldn't be disappointed if I never thought up two more chapters to write.

I'm submitting them in Word since using italics is important to the structure of the story. As such, it may take several days extra for them to start appearing, if it's posted at all.

Sucker for punishment, aren't you. Posting in word is fine, but it's a lot easier to simply insert the appropriate delimiters for formatting, the copy and past. The list is in the FAQs.

Essentially, they are the same as the delimiters used in the boards with the [ ] replaced with < >.

Tip: You can use Word's search and replace to look for anything in italics and to put <i> and </i> around it. That way, you can just do ctrl-i to make italics as usual when you're writing, and then add the markup before submitting it.

...*sigh* I should have seen this coming.

I sent the story to a friend of mine, who's an English major. I value her opinion and, while she says the story's mostly good, there's some bad.

I say "I should have seen this coming" because several months ago, I started a thread on this board asking for an editor for an unfinished story and, to my knowledge, nobody came forward. I didn't PM any of the well-knowns because I didn't want to bug them about it. It's just, I finished it and I was anxious to get it out.
