Well I finally broke down and did it. This evening I closed the windows to the bedroom and turned on the A/C in there.

Okay, so call me a wimp but 85° and 85% humidity in the bedroom makes it a tad difficult to sleep.

Hey! Me too! I gave in today because we're getting into the 80's now, too.

I'm such a wimp; I was hoping to be more energy efficient this year. Can't sleep like that though. I'm a snuggler who prefers a lot of weight on top of me, not a lay-naked-on-top-of-the-covers kinda girl.

LOLOLOL

I can deal with the heat when I'm awake.

When I sleep though, that's another story. (My wife, who loves to sleep in the warmth is most likely going to be sleeping under a sheet and blanket while I'll still be on top of the covers.)

we are holding out still. We've got fans going all over the house, and we live uphill from a lake so we have been getting a regular breeze.

I give it about 3 more days. Looked at our April power bill and thought maybe I should just get used to nudity.

Whoo hoo! :D

So far I'm resisting the urge to turn on the air conditioning. 90 degrees in May is only the beginning. August is when I'm really going to have to bite the bullet and switch it on. 110 degree days, sheesh. :p

we still need light blankets here in the frozen north. it's in the forties at night and moving up into the 60s by day. (S. Ontario)

We have gotten into the eighties a few times this month but it has cooled off for the last few days and we have even had some rain. The AC has been on a few times, mostly to try it out, but it will be great when the temperature gets to about 120 in August.

Here in Seattle, we're just beginning to reap the benefits from our long, grey winter. We had four days of sun and mid-high 70s last week, although the weekend kinda sucked. Once we get past the inevitable Memorial Day Weekend showers, the summer here is mostly sunny, low humidity, long days with temps topping out just shy of 80, and cool nights with no biting insects. :D

Hi, sorry to intrude but I've just been complaining about the heat here and I'm interested to know what the conversion rate is between farenheit and centigrade (here in Oz)? Where I am is about 37?

That sounds pretty damn hot to me.

Yup. The conversion calculator that came up on Google says that is 98.6 degrees. Body temperature!

If you like to do it yourself, the quick way is to divide 37 by 5, (7.4), multiply that by 9 (66.6) and add 32 = total 98.6degF. That's the way I was taught at school - admittedly a long time ago.

As a rough guide, starting with 10degC = 50degF, I usually estimate that every 5 degC = 9degF, so you get:

10 =50
15 = 59
20 = 68
25 = 77
30 = 86
35 = 95
40 = 104

I try not to think of temperatures above that, 'cos in my mind anything above 70degF is hell. So Az is going to be fun when we return in a couple of weeks. Daily average at the moment (ignoring storms), around 100degF. :(

*snicker* you people make me giggle.
the a/c has been on for a couple weeks here. temps in (F) have been in the 90's for a while and we've had a couple 100 degree days.
in CT, on the other hand, yesterday was a glorious high of 50. :eek:

It's wet and windy here, again.

Summer!? WTF is that???

Summer is what we have here about 11.5 months of the year! I guess it's the "grass is greener" syndrome but wet and windy sounds pretty dam good.
