a big snooze, huh? i felt that way with the book.elizabethwest said:during the Da Vinci Code.![]()
I felt like his performance was very stilted. The interaction between the characters was very disjointed and didn't flow easily. I couldn't "feel" any real relationship between the two leads.Elizabetht said:When I heard that Tom Hanks had the lead... I was like are you kidding... there was like two dozen men that I could have thought of as a better RL... ugh
And once again, the real treasure was Sir Ian.sophia jane said:Yeah I read a review of it today that said it felt longer than all of the LOTR trilogy combined.

I would rather sit through all three LOTR movies, extended versions, back-to-back. That's 11 hours and 21 minutes I could live with!
I'm a certified LOTR geek.![]()
QC!!Quiet_Cool said:Yeah, but those were good movies. As for the Da Vinci Code. I never read the book, heard dry reviews from those that I oknow who are actually intellectual (or pass for it) in terms of the book, and that more or less made me not want to see the movie. Not that it matters. I never went to see Silent Hill, and I was looking forward to that.

How are you? Haven't seen you in forever, seems like. I read the book, halfway liked it even though Angels & Demons was better, so went to see what the hype was all about. I was very disappointed in Tom Hanks. It could have been much better.
I think it's funny that I will see a trailer for a movie when I'm at the cinema to see something else, get really excited about seeing it, then by the time it actually comes out, have no interest in seeing it anymore, or have forgotten that I wanted to see it in the first place.![]()
Chat? I'm sure I can make myself free tonight. It's been a long time since we did the group thing.Quiet_Cool said:Yeah, but it's usually the ones I want to see then change my minds about that are good. The ones I see instead tend to suck. What's up with that?
Good to see you, EW. How are things? We may need to put a chat together later, if my PC will allow that (fuckin' Gateway).

You and your social life.Quiet_Cool said:Always after the group thing, aren't you, Liz? Don't know if the PC will manage it, though, and I can't stay on long. It is Saturday Night, and I slept last night.![]()

This makes me want to create some sort of combo. Gandalf explaining codes to Tom Hanks and leading him through the Vatican like he did the Fellowship in LOTR's.....elizabethwest said:And once again, the real treasure was Sir Ian.![]()

I'm not sure Tom could keep up.3113 said:This makes me want to create some sort of combo. Gandalf explaining codes to Tom Hanks and leading him through the Vatican like he did the Fellowship in LOTR's.....
Aurora Black said:Was it really that bad? My boyfriend is very eager to see this film when he comes home on leave next week. I don't have the heart to tell him it's a steaming pile of crap.![]()
It depends on if he read the book or not, I think. It's not bad if you don't know what to expect in the first place. But it is draggy in places. The special effects are pretty cool, for what they are.Aurora Black said:Was it really that bad? My boyfriend is very eager to see this film when he comes home on leave next week. I think anything with Tom ond Opie will draw big $$. Regardless of how good it is.CrimsonMaiden said:According to what I saw on the news today, it's already surpassed box office gross they expected. And of course, everyone they interviewed liked it. It probably just depends on the person. I've seen movies that I really enjoyed panned by others.

I like Howie better.CrimsonMaiden said:Very likely. Might as well dub them the new dynamic duo, lol.

In Athens, Greece, some 200 religious protesters, waving crucifixes and Greek flags, demonstrated Tuesday in protest of the film. The protesters — including Orthodox monks and nuns — later marched peacefully to parliament.
"All religions merit respect, so why don't they show respect in this case instead of attacking all that we hold sacred?" said Athanasios Papageorgiou, president of St. John the Theologian group in Peania, east of Athens.
"I've read the book. It's despicable," he added. "The Muslims for one cartoon burnt anything, so what should we do?"
Greece's powerful Orthodox Church has blasted the "ridiculous content" of the movie but stopped short of calling for its boycott.
I find it perplexing to think that people are getting so stirred up over a work of fiction. Maybe I missed something, but I don't recall Dan Brown ever claiming this is truth.Aurora Black said:He may have read the book, I'm not sure. I'll ask him tomorrow.
There's also a lot of protesting going on over here. Nothing new, of course, but it was the first time I realized that some people really hate this movie and what it suggests.

Of course, being agnostic, it doesn't really matter to me one way or the other. Wherever the "truth" lies, I'm not getting worked up about it.![]()
