I feel like an idiot about computers

It takes me forever to figure out the solution and all the while I have someone breathing down my neck to get it done faster. I actually went to an electronics store today so they could draw me a picture of how a particular fix might work. Geeze!!!

Don't feel like an idiot. I've been working on computers for 8 years now, wiriting programs, building computers and supporting people. Yet there are times still I feel I know nothing and have learned nothing.

Sounds like to me you're getting some good experience. Though that may not be your goal!

I always tell people to remember this:

People design computers and hence they are inherently imperfect. Expect problems, anticipate problems.
