I just finished writing a Transgender story, and as a cisgender straight male I have no idea if it's going to be offensive to LGBTIA+ people. How do people move past this point? Do they just risk it and submit? Or do they find someone who can read with the correct bias so they know if it's ok to submit?

One of the most popular writers of stories in the Transgender category is a guy with ZERO experience with transgender people. His stories are incredibly stupid and unrealistic, insulting to both cis and trans people. His stories are all over 4.5 and not one of them is worth a bucket of warm piss.

You cannot possibly do worse than him.

IMHO, there will always be people (in Literotica) who take offense to others' writings. I am sure some lesbians get upset with males writing lesbian erotica and gay males get upset when females write gay male exotica and to take it one step further - I am.sure that trans folks get upset when cis folks write trans erotica and straight folk get upset when gold star lesbians and gold star gays write straight erotica. My advice - ignore the trolls

I've found that input from people who can provide constructive feedback usually results in better writing. I'm sure someone on this forum could do that from their experience.

That's why I posted here .. secretly hoping a trans-female jumps up and says, "I'll read your crappy story!"

I can dream, right?

Everyone can dream, you're right. I have been in a relationship with a trans woman for the past six years but I would not presume to speak for her or anyone who is trans.

I'd hate to ask .. but I will. Would you be willing to take a look?

The best thing about your story was the fact that it was a story about two people, one of whom happened to be a trans woman. Sure a lot of it touched on her being trans but that was not the whole focus of the story. I thought it was good.

Well, that's what I was going for, so I'm glad it worked.

Again, thank you for taking the time to read it!

That's exactly what I was going to say. Just make sure the trans character is a person, someone who deserves to exist just as they are and not to be a mindless fuckdoll object or an anachronistic stereotype to mock.

If you feel like you have surmounted those two bars, you're probably doing better than a lot of authors.

I definitely didn't write it like that. I'm happy to send to you as a "Conversation" if you'll let me know what you think of it.
