I don't understand this site

This. The problems are certainly there, but don’t fall into the trap of feeling that because it’s not perfect that it’s not good. There are a lot of other sites, true, but they all have their own issues.

If you could be more specific, perhaps folks could help. I like most everything about Literotica: the stories, the Forum, and Lit Chat. I am doing something here most every day.

And it has the distinct advantage of being....free!

I second the advice to be specific. What exactly is it you are trying to do? How have you been stymied? What reason was given?

Are you trying to publish a story that hasn't been approved? Post this question to the Author's Hangout forum. Provide information about the type of story, what's happened, and, to the extent you know, exactly why your story has been held up.

Messaging people shouldn't be a problem. You can send private messages via your author profile page.

The html source code indicates the forum uses vBulletin 3.6.11 which came out 2008 with a recommendation that it run on PHP 5.2.6

A vBulletin forum post states version 3.6.11 was not working correctly on php 5.3.2 (end of life 14 Aug 2014)

I have read that higher version 3.8.8 was not compatible with php 5.6 (release date 28 August 2014)

I am surprised the forum is still holding together. If it is running on a version of php lower than 5.3.2 then it would be in an exceedingly vulnerable position.

I strongly suggest great care in what personal information is stored and that login user and password combinations are not utilised anywhere else.

As for profiles... That section has been broken for sometime. The powers that be are in the (slow) process of rewriting a lot of the code. Mostly on the story side of the site. The understanding is that there will be a single login for the site instead of the two there are now. When all that will happen is unknown.

The forums work okay, the story side is getting better. Be patient and just join in the fun and wackiness here in the forums.

If you want you can always put what you would in your profile, in your signature. But then everyone can see it without having to go to your profile.
