I don't understand the picture rules...

Ok, so I know that the BDSM area isn't really the best place for this very general question, but I feel most comfortable with you folks, so I just thought I'd ask here.

I cannot figure out for the life of me why some pictures are removed and some are not. The way that I read the rules, you can show full nudity as long as it's not a sexual act or a "laviscious" display of genitals. Yet there are some very frequent posters with clear sexual acts in their avatars that seem to be fine, but I've seen people's nude pictures get yanked in the Amateur Picture Forum.

I personally have no problem with any level of pictures - I love the avatars that most of the BDSM forum-goers have, and I love, for instance, Shank's Sneak-A-Peek thread. I'm only worried because if I consider posting my own pictures one day, I want to know what's acceptable. I have a cute picture for an avatar of me completely naked minus some strategically placed girl scout cookies (once I get to 100 posts) and I think that's ok, but you know, it's confusing! There doesn't seem to be any consistency, although I'm sure it's because there's way more pictures than poor moderators that have to go through them all! *smooches to the moderators*

Does anyone have any clarification on this for me?

I can't help with the rules, but i sure wish I would have had the nekkid Girl Scout cookie pic during cookie season. A cookie booth at Hooters with your pic for advertising..my troop would rack up the sales. LMAO

no, I wouldn't really take my troop to Hooters to sell cookies. Don't call the GS police 'kay?

When you reach 100, use the pic you want. If it disappears, you'll know it wasn't acceptable.

Personally, it seems like a safe enough image... but I don't make the rules.

I can't wait to see your picture! It sounds so cuuuute!

I think the rules are not evenly or even actively enforced. Of course that's true most everywhere you go in the world and not just at Lit.

Someone sends a complaining PM and boom, the pics are gone. Someone doesn't and no one might notice or care. That's life.

i think the problem is that the laws are so vague, it's up to the moderator's own interpretation, whatever that is at that specific time.

with avs, i don't believe anything actually gets taken down. with photos you might post, again, i think it's just the way the moderator who sees it at the time interprets the rule at that time. they're not doing it to get at anyone, they're just trying to keep our lovely site safe.

post what you want. some will stay up, some will go away. it's just a risk that some of us find annoying and others are willing to take.

good luck.

and yes, your av idea sounds fantastic :nana:

personally i think its a conspiracy just to bug you.. they all got together and were like hmm what can we do just to bug the people of lit... I KNOW!!!!

See, I think you should just go ahead and post the pic in question and let us tell you if we think it's within the rules or not.

Actually, I'm sure this pic is within the rules for posting of pics, I just wasn't sure if there are extra rules for avatars.

Now that I'm looking at this though, I'm not sure where I'd cut the square to make the avatar... hrm...

Here's a link to it

Edit: Imageshack is apparently mean, so I just attached it a few posts down! Sowwy! *kisses everyone's feet in apology*

Awesome. I like the pic! And if I were you, I wouldn't crop any of it; I'd just downsize the whole thing.

"Pretend" to reply with a quote so you can see the actual URL, then open another window or tab outside of Lit, paste in the link, and voila!

It still doesn't work for me. Image shack is mean, mean, mean to us Literoticans.

*pouts*

You have to get outside of Lit - open a new Window, go to a blank page or Google, and then copy and paste the URL.

Were this in the "what does the av above yours make you want to do" thread, I'd mention eating dessert one lonely cookie at a time.

I'm sorry guys! I didn't know that lit doesn't like imageshack!

Erm, maybe I can just attach it....

From what I can see, it is within the rules, and I also would say that the without the cookies, it would be within the rules as well ;)

Without the cookies!

You... you... you pervert you!

;)

And EG, I'll do yardwork, housework, kitchen work, anything you put me to. The commute from Michigan might be a pain though. Hehe.

Starting in Dec 05 Lit started deleting pics that were posted using the "manage attachment" function - in 60 days I lost over 500 pics. A bunch of us went nuts and pitched a fit to no avail and no clear set of rules were ever articulated.

I have made some assumptions about how things work - I could be wrong.

Each forum has it's own moderators and some of them review attachments, removing the ones they feel are violate the rules. There is no way, however, they can review all the posts in all the threads looking for pics that are hot-linked from hosting services - like the two I use in Sneak-a-peak. In almost 2 years I have not had one of those removed by Lit. I assume the AVs are the same.

I also know that at any moment it could all change - so I have at and post my nasty little stuff while I can. I hope this helps.

I'm pleased to hear you enjoy my thread

fun pics

I think it is a matter of imageshack not liking Lit. I use Photobucket to host all my "G" & "PG" photos and imagevenue for the "R" & "X" rated

Photobucket would not like the pics you just attached - imagevenue would.
