I have no desire to know what it is these jackasses suffer from.

If you are so weak that you can't control yourself, then do the rest of the world a favour and off it. I mean, I could care less about what pills or booze or bets these people are taking. Big fucking deal. Like their problems are any more important?

I don't feel sad for anyone who perishes from their own stupidity. I give you an example. I am a Chris Farley fan. Absolutley. I am sad that he is gone, but I don't feel sorry about it. He did it on his own and he paid for it on his own.

I could give even less of a shit about Billy Joel, Diana Ross, and for the love of God, can't this man disappear, David Hasselhoff. Fuck them, I have better shit to worry about.

Sorry for the rant, I just felt like bitching today. Thank you.

I don't care about celebrities.

BUT, and this is an important one considering the tone of your post, some people have flaws and weakness. Depression, in the case of Farley, haunted him until the end. If people can get help, all the better.

I feel bad for anyone who suffers.

Usually, the stupidity is driven by pain that isn't something they have much control over.

I am not condoning their choices, but I feel bad for them anyway.

It costs nothing to care about others, no matter what their station is.

You see, I have my own set of serious issues that I have to deal with, but I didn't whine about it and I didn't take anyone with me.

I finally realised my problems and I decided to do something about it.

The ones who know better and are just getting attention are the ones who bother me the most. Like Johnny Depp. That motel stunt was fab since Ed Wood was going to be released a few days later. Good show. Really. The fit, I mean.

As with Chris, he let his insecurity get in the way of getting help. That is why I am sad about it.

Bgmma, are you this cold-hearted and lacking in compassion?

people, celeb or not, have issues. You fault people for human traits. Fine, but in your first post you basically said you were glad people had such misfortune, such as dying.

Ya know what, the only celeb you mentioned that I knew had a substance abuse peoblem was Chris Farley. I remember when he died. I dont read about celebs so had no clue as to the others. Stop pretending this info is forcefed down your throat.

I am not
pretending that this is forced down my throat. It is. I can't go anywhere without hearing about this shit.

No, I am not this cold. If you would like to read my orginal post, I just felt like bitching, that's all. My mood swings and I go with it. Sheesh.

I am not glad these folks are dying, I just want them to do it quickly. I mean, how many times does Robert Downey, Jr. have to be put in jail and rehab before he finally figures out he has a problem?

I go everywhere and have never heard about it before. I suppose if you spend your time watching E!, Entertainment Tonight, and reading People you'd have it rammed down your throat.

Actually, I don't watch it.

I hear all kinds of things, especially since I work with the public. I guess I should have said that. Would have made this a bit more clear. My goof.

Ha! You mock me, smarty pants. That's cool though. I like being called on something.

tyme, thank you. I am glad you understand what I mean. Sometimes I get a bit zealous and I don't include everything I should

I am always talking about why people care so much what the stars are doing. The only thing I care about is if they are acting any good in the movies they are in. the rest is crap to me.

LOL!

Celebrities and athletes are nothing more than court jesters for society. They have all the advantages our society has to offer, and they still fuck it up. i have more sympathy for the family down the street, struggling with a teenager in rehab, than i do for these pampered self-important people.

Well said. I think I have to agree.

You put that much better than I could have, dear.

Oh, don't think I'm mocking you. That wasn't my intent.

I'd like to think that the death of a celebrity to drinking or drugs does some good. That people might consider the consequences of their actions a tad more completely. People are fascinated by celebrity sickness and death because it provides social catharsis. There's a strong Dionysian need in America as well as a strong need to see those who fulfill those needs punished.

We love to watch the young, attractive, talented, rich, and sexy people go wild and indulge themselves. We love it even more when they burn themselves in the process.

I was half joking about you mocking me. That's okay, it's hard to tell with this media.

I know what you are saying. I would like to think that someone's death would be the turning point for someone to change his or her life, but it doesn't seem to work that way. It's like people want to burn fast and fade away. It's sad.
But I also agree that we humans seem to like watching a fellow's downfall. Also sad.
*sigh* I weep for the future.
