I'm not talking about doing drugs, smoking, drinking or even having sex. My questions are enquiring about how/why you got into writing erotica.

To answer my own questions...

Why did you start doing it? It all started for me because my hubby asked me to write some 'sexy stories' for him. He told me I had a wicked mind and should tap into that imagination and write some stories. He had faith in me long before I did. I wrote that first story and got a massive buzz from the writing process and the result.

In what form did you first do it? I wrote a very short story in the first person. The characters in that story were a married couple, loosely based on Adam and me. I've re-written it a couple of times and it is now in the form of Living the Fantasy Ch01: A Welcome Distraction, posted here at Lit.

Did you get hooked immediately? Yes. After that first story I quickly wrote six others, all based on those two characters. Very soon I began broadening my scope and wrote some other stories in different genres, mostly horror and erotic horror. This is when I really began to tap into my creativity, in that I mean I was more adventurous with my character and plot development. At that point, I believe, I became much better at story telling.

Could you stop, even if you wanted to? Nope, I feel it's part of me now. It's how I express myself and literally stop myself going insane. I don't want to stop. I want to take it as far as I possibly can.

Are you proud of yourself because of it? Yes, very. I think I have found something I'm actually pretty good at. It has given me an immense feeling of self worth and self belief, like nothing else before.

That's all pretty deep, but I can honestly say I love writing, especially erotica.

What about you?

Lou

Why did you start doing it?

I like to read sexstories, and during my search for good ones, I stumbled upon Literotica. Since my favourite category is Interracial, that's where I went. I was a little disappointed, though, with the lack of GOOD stories - in those days, most of the stories were of the type little-white-good-girl-gets-taken-by-black-savage-with-12"-dick-and-turns-into-a-cumhungry-slut-for-black-cock.
So, I wrote a more normal story, Room-Mating, and submitted it.

In what form did you first do it?

I was a little bit inspired by an episode in "Nikki", so I borrowed that name, and the setting. Then I made the rest of it up, writing the whole thing from a 1st person POV, trying to imagine what I would have said and done if the I of the story had really been me.

Did you get hooked immediately?

Pretty much, but it took a while before I submitted my second story, the Gay Male In The Shower. See, I'd been writing stories ever since I was a kid, but in the last few years, I had lost most of my inspiration to write at all. Writing a few sexy stories here brought it all back, and now, once again, my notepads are full of drafts and scene sketches!:)

Could you stop, even if you wanted to?

I suppose so, but why would I? It's lots of fun, and it doesn't harm myself nor others.

Are you proud of yourself because of it?

Yes, I am. I know there are some people out there who think that erotic stories are not worth writing, but WTF, I like to use my creativity, and if the subject is something as nice and fun as sex, why not?

Something I've learned from being on Lit is that words like slut, pervert, kinky, sex-crazy, etc, don't necesarily have to be negative.

I had a dream. A kinky dream and it would not leave me alone so i wrote it down and well then i couldn't stop writing! I think reading erotica really got the inspiration going :)

In what form did you first do it?

It was a first person little (tiny) story, it was in a dream format and really it didn't change much from my actual dream and all in all was pretty pathetic.

Did you get hooked immediately?

Yes i think so..I wrote erotica for a while but never plucked up the courage to put it on display then one day i took the plunge and submitted"spank!"to lit and i was then hooked!

Could you stop, even if you wanted to?

Nope. stories invade my mind and they HAVE to be written down....and I love the eedback and general adoration too much to give it up*L*

Are you proud of yourself because of it?

Yes I am actually :) Not to the extent i'd tell my whole family for example or strangers i meet in the street but i am proud of my work and show it off online :)

Well,

Why did you start doing it?

I had been writing short fantasy pieces for my little brothers since I was 13 or so, usually based on their RG characters and their adventures. A while back I wrote a couple of pieces for the owners of an online game and they were so popular my friends who played the game started wanting to be characters. For one of them I wrote an erotic horror piece and found I had some small apptitude for it.

In what form did you first do it?

My first posted erotic work was a hypothetical meeting between two internet freinds. It was based on a pair of friends who played the game and wondered what it would be like if they met. After they both asked me to write it and agreed to submit to the "Colly-thrid-degree" I took the info I had and worked out a story of what I thought their meeting would be like based on thier irc personalitites and the tidbits I gathered from interviewing them both. The result was Night at the Jefferson.

Did you get hooked immediately?

Nopers. It took about a month of brow beating and wheedling before I would even conscent to having one of them post it to a public place. It wasn't until I started getting feedback and requests for more that I got hooked.

Could you stop, even if you wanted to?

Nopers. Wouldn't want to, but couldn't if I tried.

Are you proud of yourself because of it?

Yeppers. So proud I have told both my parents and my brothers and even sent copies of stories to my mom and dad. They support me fully, but my cousin's wife ask if I could write something some day that dosen't involve the labia ;)

Writing is so much a part of me no and it brings me the most pleasure of any pursiut I have thus far tried.

Why did you start doing it?
I was looking for the story that met my needs. There was stuff that I really wanted to see, one fantasy especially. Someone came bloody close to writing that fantasy, but fell short due to technically poor writing. So I decided I'd do it myself. I've since gone back to that story and rewritten it now that my technical competence is better, but I still havethe original on my hard drive and I'm unreasonably proud of it.

Actually that's not completely true. I've just remembered the story before that, when I wrote as a callow virginal youth of (age deleted, because I was of course 18 at the time). The story is still floating around on Lit somewhere (under a different name (I will give actual money if someone can correctly identify it)) with a 4.2 ish score. Can't remember exactly why I did that one, but I think it was a form of sexual release, just letting myself go into this new medium I'd discovered. Some particularly unpleasant events then dissuaded me from writing again for another 2 years, after which I wrote Seducing Dawn under the new (much more private and protected) pen-name of The Earl.

In what form did you first do it?
The very first was a full-blown incest/gay male/lesbian/non-consent story in 3rd person. No-one can say I was lacking ambition back then. The first proper story (SD) was first person lesbian/mind-control/celebrity. Actually ambition's never been a problem.

Did you get hooked immediately?
After writing Seducing Dawn, I was hooked. It was a two-parter and I'd started writing the second section when I'd submitted the first. The feedback I got was incredible and it's still fantastic to go back and look over it. Part two was rushed out immediately and I knew I had to get me more of this.

Could you stop, even if you wanted to?
I guess the answer to that is yes, because I do appear to be stopping. Maybe it's because I'm no longer single, maybe I'm suffering from erotic writer's block (non-erotic's still progressing nicely), maybe I'm just out of ideas. I just don't have the verve and the motivation to write erotica at the moment. Sincerely hope that changes because there is nothing like that first flood of feedback on a new story.

Are you proud of yourself because of it?
I am as well. I'm quite happy to show some of my stuff to people, as I think it's very adult (in the sense of mature rather than rude, although it is that too) erotica. Barring some of my mistakes like One Cup Of Coffee, I am proud of my work, because I think it's more than just cheap'n'nasty porn. And that's what I hoped to achieve.

The Earl

Why did you start doing it?
To see whether I could. Convincingly. I started writing when I did not have sexual experience and I wanted to see whether I could write about it convincingly without people getting to know that. Silly reason but that's what got me started. The result is Doggie Style.

In what form did you first do it?
Second person, straight MF sex; born out of an unusual situation, can almost be called a fetish. Almost. It was a fantasy.

Did you get hooked immediately?
Yes. Still hooked.

Could you stop, even if you wanted to?
Don't think so, unless forced to. There was an eight moth period in between when I couldn't access Lit because of my stupid service provider. I was devastated. When I got back, I was more than overjoyed.

Are you proud of yourself because of it?
Yes, very. It's giving me a lot of satisfaction lately because I am getting favourable comments from people I respect and admire for their writing. A small remark from some of the AH people is worth more than most of my feedback put together.

Ok, I'm me now.

Writing erotica...

Why did you start doing it? I have always loved writing stories. Ever since I first learned how to spell. But they were all in my native Swedish lingo. I happened to bounce into some erotic fiction on Usenet years ago, and I thought it was pretty fun to read. Then, a year ago, my girlfriend showed me her favourite site, this one. After a while of reading, I got the idea that "hey, I can do that too." So I wrote my first erotica to prove that I could write good erotic stories, and to practice my writing in English.

In what form did you first do it? I wrote a lengthy, smutty piece involving all kinds of filth that was just about as taboo as Lit would allow. I never published it, it was too much shock value, so much that I didn't even find it erotic myself. Definitely not what I really wanted to write. So I scrapped it and wrote another one. It had lots of story, character drama, and sexual tension, instead of 57 ways of poking it. This one I felt I could stand up for, so it became my official first story.

Did you get hooked immediately? Well, I was hooked already on writing. This is just another branch of that tree. I'm kind of hooked to this group of authors and other enthusiasts that I've come to know via this board. And as long as I'm here, why not write some pr0n, eh?

Could you stop, even if you wanted to? I could. If I had a good reason. But however hard I try, I can't even imagine what such a reason could be.

Are you proud of yourself because of it? Because I write erotica? I'm proud that I can write stuff that people enjoy reading. And every new way that I discover that I can write and get a reader's reaction boosts that pride, erotic writing or not.

Why did you start doing it?
To see if I could and to remove obstructions in my personal life by exploring my inner feelings through writing.

In what form did you first do it?
Alien Incest - this was a personal challenge. I am now outlining an incest tragedy that arose out of an event that occurred over Christmas.

Did you get hooked immediately?
Yes - and No.
There is a thrill in writing erotica, the challenge for me is to write erotic stories with a full and complete tale not a series of erotic couplings. Feedback has been supportive of my writing style and charactorisation. If I found myself just writing 'copulation' in its varied forms I would probably want to stop.

Could you stop, even if you wanted to?
Yes - The next few months will make it increasingly difficult to write, building project here to complete, new business just started. Three web sites to build - there are not enough hours in the day let alone days in the week - Lit. writing will be the first to be dropped. But I will return.

Are you proud of yourself?
Immensely.

Thanks for making me think Lou. (Not for the first time  )

Dear Wi,
I'm concerned about your new AV. Is that:
a. roadkill?
b. a tasty pastry of some sort?
c. a used spaghetti dinner?
Just wondering,

Ps. I can't answer Tate's question, because I don't write.

Hmmmm... Writing erotica..

Why did you start doing it?

I reworked a friend's Erotic Horror story back in about 1996/97. Hadn't touched the genre since then until I started posting on the AH last year (2003)

In what form did you first do it?

The rework of my friend's Erotic Horror story was the first piece I ever did. I'm still not happy with how it turned out.

Did you get hooked immediately?

Only in as much as I enjoy writing of all forms. I can't say that I particularly like writing erotica any more than any other kind of writing.

Could you stop, even if you wanted to?

Writing erotica? Yes. Writing in general? No. I could no more stop writing than stop playing music. I love to create, and without pen and paper, I create in my head.

Are you proud of yourself because of it?

Um. No, not particularly. I try very hard not to define myself by what I do and what I achieve - I am proud of who I am, not what I can do.

So I am neither proud nor shamed by it - It is just something that I do.

okay

Why did you start doing it?
because I wanted to

In what form did you first do it?
verse

Did you get hooked immediately?
oh yeah

Could you stop, even if you wanted to?
don't wanna, don't gotta

Are you proud of yourself because of it?
yes, some of my best "stuff" is erotica

reading/writing erotica is almost as good as foreplay. sometimes the only thing you have as sex play. mental masturbation. it relieves tension. it excites the imagination. it forces you to confront yourself more so than any other genre, when written well.

Dear Wi,
No. The waiting list for membership applications is just too long.

Confession time

Why did you start doing it?

Because I enjoy porn, but my wife wont allow it in the house. She hates it in all forms and simply wont have it. I understand her feelings and the reasons for them and have had to resort to some pretty sneaky forms of disguise to hide it. I thought, as she wouldn't let me bring it home, I'd create my own. She accepted that, but didn't like me using someone elses name, so I used hers.

In what form did you first do it?

Using her name actually fuelled my desire to write, as to the larger extent, my fantasies revolve around my wife with other men. Therefore, up to now, all the writing I do is on that subject.

Did you get hooked immediately?

I wouldn't say hooked, but when I got a new idea for a fantasy that really flicked my switch, I wrote it down and turned it into the story that I would lke to read.

Could you stop, even if you wanted to?

The trouble with writing porn for yourself is that you get the best kick from it whilst writing it. Once it's finished, it becomes old and you only get a kick from it a couple more times.

That's why I've asked a few people to write stories for me, under guide lines given by me. I've had three so far, all from different writers here on Lit and all very good. A fourth one is being completed now, hopefully, and I'll probably do more as I've struck up a good rappore (I think) with two of the writers.

Are you proud of yourself because of it?

I'll tell you soon, as I've just submitted my first self-written story to Lit. Provided it gets through Laurel's scrutiny you'll see it soon. I've been advised that she may have an issue with it from one angle, and I may have to amend it slightly, but the well known lady author on here, who proof read it for me, tells me it turned her on when she read it. Twice!

Extremely high praise indeed, and I'm very chuffed and flattered, but we'll see!

(Hey Laurel, if you do think that's bad, wait till I submit the second chapter!!)

Very rude!

Is your wife feeling insecure, Lewd Dandelion?

Does she think that if you enjoy other women's looks, you love and desire her less?

I don't care where Hubby gets his appetite, as long as he only eats at home.

Hey Svennie

Yep, you got it and in one, you clever little Norwegian you.:D

Oh no, that's right, you're Swoodish aren't you!!! Sorry, (not)

Are you a Chef by any chance?????:D

Seriously, on that front, she's not feeling insecure, she IS insecure.

I don't know why, after nearly 20 years of marriage, but hey, she's a woman, and we men ain't supposed to understand y'all fully. (I'm told).

That's probably how you like it though !!!!!!

Why did you start doing it?
Well, I guess the most truthful answer would be to get laid. My girlfriend is a writer, and when we first met, two years ago, I felt like I would really need to impress her if I wanted to have a shot. It seemed the right thing to do. And it worked, too. :D

In what form did you first do it?
Poetry. One of those mushy ones, quickly followed by one of those sexy ones.

Did you get hooked immediately?
To writing? Well, I've always written some short stories, but after that I did start to take it a lot more seriously than ever before, and pretty quickly. I found Literotica Discussion Boards shortly after and became addicted.

Could you stop, even if you wanted to?
Probably. I'm in it for the challenge more than anything, these days, but I have other stuff to channel my creative juices. Writing isn't my main driving force.

Are you proud of yourself because of it?
I think it's nifty. I don't need a reason to be proud. ;)

I started doing it because a friend said I should, I'd written a few lewd tales for private consumption, and they impressed a few close friends. So I took the plunge and posted some, (not here).
Folks seemed to like them, so I carried on.

The form I wrote the first few was not at all suitable for Lit, and my best works will never be posted here, what I think are the best that is.
Although they contain NO child sex, or GROSSLY underage sex, the characters are real and have kids and stuff like that, and said kids play up a bit and form a part of the tale, all things banned by the censors here and at many sites.
I refuse to claim all children are born at 18 and won't bastardise the stories to fit the rules.

Hooked, of course, never been able to put it down since I started:D

Could I stop, Yes, tomorrow if need be, I'm a full time manual worker with a one man business to run not an acedemic or student. If business or family matters dictated, I'd pack in messing about on the web and writing without hesitation.

Proud, hell yes, how many people in your street other than you have been published?? with a readership potentially of millions.
I can only think of one other local to me;) (and got better fucking reviews than me)

See ya love, nice thread subject. pops :rose:
