i love making soup and i had an assortment of vegetables in the refrigerator that were starting to look peaked. i had a small rutabaga, parsnips, carrots...lots of root vegetables, my favorites. i also had some greens and some celery so i threw those in. after simmering it for hours i tasted it.

you know the smell of fresh turned earth? basically, that's what it tasted like, a bowl full of dirt. Oh, i said to myself, i'll just puree all of the vegetables to bring out their full flavor.

i fished them out, pureed them and added them back to the soup. it was a lovely golden color and had a creamy texture. i tasted it. it tasted like a gritty bowl of dirt.

spices! i thought. i got busy and added a couple of spices to the brew. now it tasted like spicy dirt and made me gag.

i carried the pot down to the corner and dumped it in the sewer for the sewer rats.

thankfully, i had the carcass and remains of a rotisserie chicken in the freezer. i'm now making chicken soup. if this turns out like shit, i'll just eat toast for supper.

At least you're getting the refrigerator clean out of stuff past its prime.

That does not sound like a good soup experience. I was hoping for a better end to the root vegetable soup story.

I hope your chicken soup fares better. 🐔

And there's nothing wrong with a nice piece of toast.

got a bad rutabaga.

and my chicken soup was excellent! i had the remains of a bag of egg noodles so i added those...yum, yum, yum!

did you WASH the vag before eating it?

thats why it tasted like it did, DUMMY

I've never made soup. I've tried and successfully made stew, but my favorite is chili. I use ground beef and a spice mix plus a can of kidney beans and tomato sauce plus chili powder, cayenne pepper, jalapenos and a 1/4 bottle of hot Pace's Picante. If my nose does not run when I sample it then it's not hot enough. If it's too mild I add Ghost pepper puree. I serve up the chili as a Frito pie.

i make an excellent chili, too. in fact, i was going to make some today but i was too lazy to go to the store for ingredients. and i haven't had frito pie in years...now i'm hungry for it!
