I could see bdsm becoming a religion.

Maybe. I can't put it into very coherent words right now, it's more of a series of images and thoughts and feelings but about they depths of feeling that we can have toward another. Not a theistic religion but something along the lines of a philosophy of connection to and caring for each other.

Or I could just be totally nuts.

We would have nuns suspended from the ceiling covered in candles.

So, a non-relligious religion? Where do we pay our dues? Do subs get to pay for indulgences?

The Church of Holy Flagellation - Where we take the troubles of the world and visit them on our own skin. Or something like that, anyways. A local guy wants to do it. Evidently it surprisingly simple to make a legally recognized religion.

So, no. You aren't nuts.

ETA:
At least any more nuts than the local guy. Which might or might not be a consolation depending on who you ask.

There is a church of body modification. Ugh.

Not into churches.

I do like beautiful stained glass though.

Also certain kinds of crosses.

I was thinking more like a zen kind of thing where people try to achieve higher understanding of ourselves and others and the universe.. science, art, etc... And also accept our animal sides, lust and greed and kindness and nurturing and everything it means to be human but with an understanding that to completely know and connect with another is a form of spiritual nirvana.

To be honest, it was one of the pics from the erotica thread that threw all the random thoughts against one another. I'll find and post it in a sec.

This is the pic...

In all seriousness, I think that's going down for a lot of people. I know it does for me, but never when it's forced, never when it's consciously sought, and never when it's like "ok it's ritual time" that kind of removes the possibility for me.

It is spontaneous.. when you feel the changes in your mind and body at just the right time and have to have her or have to be had by her..

Some kind of amazingly intense urge that says I need to worship at the temple of you and join with you.

I read a furry story which has BDSM as a religion unifying predators (doms) and prey (subs). They called it "Blood and Teeth" after a ritual where the predator sunk their teeth into the prey's neck enough to cause bleeding, enough that the prey felt the fear of death, accepted it, and went beyond it - basically into subbie headspace. One of the major goals was that the predator learn to trust themself not to go too far, which was necessary for them to relax and get into their own dom headspace.

Hmm, well I don't want to get too serious, cause religion, it's kind of :(

But I could see it. Like using Japanese principles such as simplicity, subtleties, purposeful movement, etc.

Wax on wax off

I say we do this! Gotta come up with a name for the whole philosophy of it.

Gimme another four and a half years and I intend to lay a pastor as often as possible. :D

Having sex with a member of the clergy/papistry or whatever it's called has been a religious experience.

:D

For the record, Mister is a Minister.

It would just be begging to be turned into something even more exclusive and clique-y than the community already is. What's wrong with having a regular ol' community anyways? Not like it has to be a (Twu?) Philosophy™ in order for us to reflect on it.

So, the kinky, bi, ex stripper/model and the minister. :D Well, it's an interesting footnote, anyway.

Welcome back, Ms Satin. It's nice to see you back from the land of Poof. :rose:
