Ugh. I hate going back to school after the holidays. This week I had 3 essays due, and 2 presentations.

It was INSANIUM IN THE CRANIUM, and I still can't go to sleep... now I get to start on next weeks crazyness. BLEH.

So, can anyone give me a hand here? One of my essay topics is; "Has modern Feminism help, or hurt modern women".

Modern is being defined as, in my professor's words, "the last 50 years or so."

I'm really struggling with this one, particularly, because I don't think anyone is going to win the battle of the sexes... there's too much fraternizing with the enemy.

Oh you HAVE got a problem, haven't you?.
I think it's PM time.

Sorry, I can't give you any insight into your topic, but I definitely feel your pain with going back to classes.

I am in the process of applying for required supervised practices. In the midst of that I'm told about a graduate fellowship, where they will pay the recipient to do their thesis, and I really need to apply because hurry up, the deadline is February 11! And while you're at it apply to the grad school, even though you have no idea if you'll get the residency! Hurry!

And oh yeah! Your current research has to be done in a little over a month, including final presentation, because you're supposed to be presenting it at a conference! Which is in New Orleans and you'll miss a week of class!

For all those applications, you need 3 sets of letters of recommendation, work experience, volunteer credit, extracurricular activities, and perfect grades!

I don't even start actual classes until Tuesday. I already want to jump off the nearest bridge.

Let's form a support group.

We should start a support group, I just don't know how many college kids there are on here lol

My youngest daughter is back in classes this semester, her questions of me, concerning Ovidian Poetry, Galileo and Tycho Brahe, were simple compared to yours.

I personally give Feminism a D- minus, but I go back to post WW2 and the 50's as the beginnings, (one could go back even more) in fact one should go back more for a proper perspective.

With feminism and birth control we now have female promiscuity and the highest STD rates ever.

With Feminism and the family....the family has been destroyed.

With Feminism and Nurturing, the child grows up in day care and school and the parent (usually only one anymore), doesn't have a clue as to who the child really is.

Row upon row of $200.000 homes sit empty for the better part of the day as both parents labor to support an overbloated government.

Government is quite happy to get two incomes to tax rather than one.

Women outnumber men in college, what 54-46? May have risen since I last checked....and they all major in the social skills, there is no 'hard science' classes or Majors at most schools.

Feminism? One of the causal factors in the decline of America.

heh...:rose:

Ami, I was doing all right up to the green bit.
The state of a Government has damn-all to do with the problem IN THIS INSTANCE.

Ami,

Thanks for your input, but I disagree. With SOME of your points. There have ALWAYS been promiscuous females, Feminism had nothing to do with that. And the higher STD rates? Lets teach sex ED instead of abstinence...

MY mom and my grandma raised me to be strong and independent after my dad walked out. I don't see how Feminism RUINED my family, it gave me one.

I'm also a psychology major and it's my goal to find a new way to treat PTSD.

Again Ami, thank you for your input, I'll consider it in the other side of my paper.

You think not, Handley? Really?

Every government employee requires about 100 free citizens to support him, what with wages, salaries, benefits, health & retirement fundings.

That means that each of those 100 free citizens have to accept a lower standard of living, less income, or get a second job just to make ends meet.

Like eating peanuts, I had three wives before I finally learned they weren't good for me, but not one of them was required to work outside the home, I supported them all and the children on my income.

When government imposes restrictive regulations upon industry and takes a large portion in business tax, property tax, a list of about 200 taxes, the cost of their products all rise and the consumer pays the higher bill, again, at a diminished standard of living.

For those who do not understand the mechanics of a free market system and a limited form of government, and see themselves as a mere part of the greater good in which government meets your needs, I can perhaps see why the hairs on your neck rise when I call you out....smiles...

Hmmm... Curious

Today, I got assigned two labs and a case. Yay accounting classes.

So, can anyone give me a hand here? One of my essay topics is; "Has modern Feminism help, or hurt modern women".

Modern is being defined as, in my professor's words, "the last 50 years or so."

Depending on whether or not your professor is a card carrying Feminist of whatever capital F creed of feminism that has been raised in the last 50 years or so, and that he she does not mean 50-year-old women by that modern women, consider it a task of logical research and thinking. Look at and discuss those various (often conflicting) creeds of capital F Feminism, along with plain ole non-creed feminism, which almost certainly will end up in a conclusion to the basic question that "it is too early to tell." You're a writer, you should be able to go (depending on essay length assigned) for paragraphs or pages in support of the conclusion alone. :D

I am good at BSing my way through papers but, I've been told that I'm not allowed to stay on the fence and I don't have thoughts one way or the other *sigh*

When I attended college we wrote with quills on parchment, but that being said I do remember, albeit vaguely, the rigors of the student life...pop quizzes. all-nighters, masters thesis (thesies?) et al.

Feminism provided (provides) a healthy outlet for feminine frustration and bitterness regarding the perceived Patriarchal culture endemic in America. It also provides ready made excuses for failure in both marriages and employment..."If it wasn't for those horrible men..."

Someone once quipped that Feminism gave ugly women a chance to be noticed...which is sexist of course, but has a ring of truth to it. ;)

A coherent argument can be made for both the Pros and Cons of Feminism, but given the current climate on today's Uni campuses, if you want a good grade, argue for the Pros. Most hard core Feminist professors, as are most fanatics, brook no difference of opinion from the Official Credo.

Good luck with your school work.

Well then, for a good grade pick the side your professor is on and bullshit your way to an A.

Yes, Ami, I really think so.
I do not dispute your facts or figures on the costs of Government. I merely say that to quote such figures is extending the debate further than it needs to be. It has, in this instance, nothing to do with Feminism.

Do you think my Professora will accept the stance that no one will ever win because there's too much fraternizing with the enemy?

I hate numbers... I almost failed algebra

I hear ya. I squeaked through Algebra, was tutored through Geometry (never even tried Algebra II) and you know what? I haven't used either of them one day since I graduated High School.

I took one semester of 'Throwaway Math' in college to satisfy a compulsory undergrad requirement and that was that. ;)

I had to take Algebra 2, never passed a test all year, but passed the class anyway because of the goodness of the teacher's heart... One of the few benefits of going to a tiny underfunded country school....

As long as you can fully make your case, you might be able to swing that. Or you could think of it as a persuasive essay, and just pick a side and support it completely. You don't necessarily have to agree with it in order to make a case and present evidence for it.

But. In the psychology field maybe you do?
