My mother is very sick. She is in ICU, on a ventilator. They cannot get her blood pressure to come up. The odds of her making it doesn't look good. I haven't cried much, I'm just very sad. If she passes, I am going to miss her. I can't imagine my life without her. Ok, now I'm crying.


I have been on Lit so long, I don't know, I just wanted to share what is going on here.

I will have my phone close by all night long, encase the hospital calls.

Can you be there? If so, go and talk to her as much as you can. Play her music.
 
My condolences, Pink. It's never easy, no matter how full the life lived.

Talking to her agitates her. She wants to talk back to you and can't because of the ventilator. The nurses don't want her upset. We are only allowed to see her for 5 minutes every hour. She is in critical condition.

I am sorry, I was trying to think of ways to get her heart rate up and soothe her.

Pink, we're so very sorry to hear that your Mom is in ICU. Our prayers are with you. I know how sadness can be overwhelming at times like this, but please know that your friends are sending positive thoughts your way. Stay strong and spend as much time with her as possible. Stay positive Pink.

and i hate saying things like condolences because it feels like empty noise, but condolences.


now, might i suggest getting stoned off your ass and crying while listening to music that is in no way sad at all? it really worked for me.

Now that I've started crying, I can't stop. I know she is scared of dying. I keep remembering when she told me that. I wish more than anything, I could help her now.

I know half of what I am saying doesn't make sense, sorry.
 
Pink,It nothing I can say will make you feel better but I will say it is OK to be sad and cry and yell and rant.

I'm sorry life sucks right now. Remember the good times.

what's there to be sorry about?
 
She looks so fragile laying there, so many wires coming from her. She is 84 and had a long life but it is selfish to say, I am not ready for her to die. I'm just not ready.

Prepare yourself. It gets a lot worse. You absolutely have to be prepared for the inevitable and be ready for it with an elderly parent in that condition.

You already know this and by acknowledging you aren't ready.....in some way to me proves you are and can handle it.

People handle it. You will too.

You're stronger than you think.
