I haven't done a straight magic routine in ages, its usually mixed with comedy and/or a spirtual theme.

I was just wondering from those of you who go to such performances live if the following trick would be to obvious figured out.

It's my take on the self levetation trick.

I gather into the center of the room and cricle everyone around me either in a full circle or a horse shoe depending on if I have to access audio equipment as well.

I take my hoolahoop, do a few hoolas, pass the hoop around the audience for inspection. when the audience has inspected it I drop it to the floor in the center of the gathering. I remove my sprots jacket/suit jacket and dress shirt so I am in a short sleeve tshirt with dress pants I also remove my shoes and socks for bare feet.

I stand in the center of the hoolahoop get an audience member {not a plant memebr a real stranger} to move the hoop all around me to check for wires or anything.

Once they do I begin the fancy words and showy story that goes with the levetation trick and begin to rise off the floor. I get about a foot off the floor and offer an other audience member to use the hoop and sway it all around me looking for wires or anything to be supporting me, after this is done I lower back to the floor again.

Its a nice trick and generally gets a few oh's and ah's but its been 5 years since I have done it.

what I am wondering with all the magic o tv, david blaine, etc, is the technique of the trick to easily figured out of what I do in order to float?

If you are taking your clothes off, just what exactly are you trying to levitate?

I only take off a jacket, shirt shoes and socks

leaving me dressed in tshirt and pants

the other is removed because earlier performances people said that those clothing item were how I was doing the levitation i.e. that I had strings or wires attached to them

given that audiences change every year and given that people still like to be fooled by such things i think it's still a great trick. go for it.

Thank you UncleJ, What I was wondering was though if what i sue to levitate myself from the desecribed scenario is to obvious, I mean everyone like a levitation just some methods are more obvious than others.

I don't know how David Blaine does it, and I can't deduce with the information here how you do it.

I'd be more concerned that your audience may think you're being a copycat than that they'll figure out the trick.
