God Bless The USA!
---------------
If tomorrow all the things were gone

I'd worked for all my life,

And I had to start again

with just my children and my wife,

I'd thank my lucky stars

to be living here today,

'Cause the flag still stands for freedom

and they can't take that away.

I'm proud to be an American

where at least I know I'm free,

And I won't forget the men who died

who gave that right to me,

And I gladly stand up next to you

and defend her still today,

'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land

God Bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota

to the hills of Tennessee,

Across the plains of Texas

from sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston

and New York to L.A.,

There's pride in every American heart

and it's time we stand and say:

I'm proud to be an American

where at least I know I'm free,

And I won't forget the men who died

who gave that right to me,

And I gladly stand up next to you

and defend her still today,

'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land

God Bless the U.S.A.

Is it showing? I hope so. This is weird for a hippy like me, but I feel all gay and united and shit. It is so sad and harsh.

Yes, Its showing Starfishy.

Thanks Mistress and a big tight hug and snuggle. I've sat here for several minutes trying to come up with more to say, just feels like some of our faith in our safety went up in smoke with the towers yesterday.

My prayers are with the workers trying to go thru the rubble looking for bodies and survivors. Extra prayers for all those families who have lost loved ones.

I love this song, I always have since the very first time I ever sung it in 5th grade. It has always been uplifting in a way, always brought me to tears. This morning when I was trying to remember the words to it, I frantically searched for them, so I could have the full lyrics to post. Because, I feel some people just needed the lyrics right now....

I'd like to try to keep this on the front page for awhile.....
Though some of you don't care for the lyrics, others do.

I can think of nothing to say that could fit the way I feel about this song except one thing..

Stand Proud, All Americans.

its lovely the sorts of things everyone should be thinking right now in america

Unusual for me.

I've never considered myself especially patriotic, even through the Gulf War and the first WTC bombing. I've believed that my country has a lot of faults and is oftentimes over-boastful and sometimes just wrong in how it deals with other countries.

But Tuesday, and the days after, I realize how much I love my country. I realize that regardless of the quibbles I have, there is no country greater, nor more dedicated to liberty and human decency than mine over its history. We have been willing, are are still willing still, to be out in the very front of the fight for liberty and freedom and against evil and terror - even after September 11.

I'm proud to be an American, and even though I think it's a bit schlocky, I do love that song. :)

I love all the suport everyone has been giving.
It almost takes away the fear.......
