I am obsolete

My time passed a lot longer ago than I probably realize. There are maybe 2 movies a year I would pay to see. There hasnt been an album (CD to all you young ones) that I would buy in the last 10 years. Theonly things on TV I watch on a semi-regular basis is Boigraphy, TLC, Discovery and the History channel.
My idea of common courtesy is somehow considered good manners now as opposed to merely acceptable behavior. If I had kids I would discipline them in ways that would get me thrown in jail, but dammnit they would have some respect for society.
Sports no longer has true teams and damned if I can see ANY reason a city should buy some rich bastard a stadium.
Basically I think I have outlived my usefulness. I hope I make a good curmudgeon.

How generous of you

you are not obsolete, you are classic.

Sometimes I just feel there is no place for me any more. Classic, eh? Maybe that explains my love of vintage guitars.

In the past 10 years? Obviously you're not much for actually getting up off the couch.

All of what you described sounds like a YOU problem, not music, not movies, not sports.

What's truly wrong in your life?

Obsolete by choice

You can maintain your values, your sense of good & bad, right & wrong, and love the things you enjoyed when you were younger or in a different time in your life.

But this is an amazing world and to stop exploring and discovering new sensations, new sounds, unique cultures, the arts, sciences, nature, or just meeting a new neighbor down the street, a new colleague at work, a family member you have lost touch with or closeness with, or a getting to know someone you would not have expected to share common interests in -- well, you are robbing yourself of a thousand experiences to reflect on later in life, share with another generation, or just smile about in a quiet moment.

Oh I dunno, perhaps in music I never got over my need for melodic structure. Also I always thought you should actually sing or play an instrument to be called a musician, silly me. Perhaps I saw too many movies when I was young and that made Hollywood films pretentious predictable and boring. Maybe athletes being grossly overpaid and moving to new teams every year and teams moving to new cities every year disillusioned me with sports.
Yep, your right. Its definitely me, I didnt change with the times.
BTW, I get out quite a bit more than most people do. Its the nature of my work.
