Hi

After receiving a deal of magnificently praise-filled feedback about my story "Love...and Love Intensely," I received quite a blow to my then overblown ego through the form of a comment posted by a pair of so called "feminists." While one might argue that the deflation of my ego was really called for and quite inevitable in any case, what got my goat was the fact that the comment was not actually about my storyline, my characters, or even the sex. In fact, I was told quite bluntly that it was sick, because it happened to be one with elements of nonconsent.

Hell, who asked them to read it? If one ventures into the area marked, "NON CONSENT" then one should expect to find stories with Non Consent in them. And while I can understand the fact that rape is a very serious matter, not one to be taken lightly, this site is one of fantasy. Everyone has a forbidden fantasy or ten, and everyone should have the freedom to express themselves. That goes, of course for the commentors too, but while their comments remain as hypocritical as that, I reserve the right to whine about.

I've left the original comments on the site, because as a matter of principle I don't delete any feedback I receive, but hell, I just needed to vent, so thanks for your time.

If I wrote a story about a black man murdering a white woman and then rape 12 year old Moslim boy, that doesn't mean I'm a lesbian.

Decided not to leave it up after all? I looked at your story and didn't see it.

Anyway, Lisa and Laura are well-known to alot of Lit writers for leaving that kind of feedback. Just ignore them.

Ah the on going struggle between non-consent and reluctance...

Awhile ago I remember reading a thread about this were some were saying oh the girl should eventually give in blah blah blah... then the hard core non-conset writers were like wait hold up here this is NON consent not alittle slap and tickle. It is as hard core as we can go without crossing the line.

Sorry but I have to agree....
We all know EXACTLY what that category entails when we click on it... don't like it... well then I would suggest Romance instead.

You have to laugh, don't you?

:rose:

Ok, just to freak you out even more, I got feedback recently telling me that you and I write very similarly. I think they were wanting to know if we were in fact one and the same person. What was even scarier was that I started reading a story of yours because someone else who sent me feedback recommended it, and I had thought that myself.

Hi Wishful

Were you talking to me? If so - thanks! I've just read some of your stories and I think they're brilliant. Its a compliment if you think mine are like yours.

To Crimson Maiden: No, I didn't delete them, so I'm quite sure they're still there. There are a couple of pages of feedback, though, so it might be on one of the earlier pages or something. Or do they get automatically deleted once they reach a certain time limit? I don't know. I'll check again.

Nope - still there. Never mind anyway.

P.S. Wishfulthinking and I are definitely not the same person, lol. Right, Wishful? ;)

Please! You have 2 pages of public comments on your story. I can barely manage even half that! That should tell you something.

Anyway, I've yet to write enough stories to warrant a second personilty!

They really are a couple of crackers arn't they? It's incredible, judging by their grammer and spelling that they can read at all. Here's a copy of their combined litarary feedback which pissed me off no end, many moons ago, particularly as it was my first attempt.

Well, we see you are back and you dumb, and do not know when to leave when
someone ask you. Fran, don't let a vile smelly fisherman turn you into a slut.
Put the cigerete out in his eye. Again, please do not post anything here.
Laura & Lisa, the bi girls

It's just a pity really, that now that I know better, I don't recieve more feedback from these two budding pair of 'whiz kids'.
Perhaps if you've time, you could PM me, I'd love to know what they wrote.
Keep on writing

Ahh..Okay, I didn't see the second page! Sorry!

:D Thats classic. "the bi girls" Who is their archnemisis? The bi boys? Reminds me of the ambiguously gay duo cartoon.

I got ravaged by the bi girls, too, for my Bossing the Boss story. Like you said, if they don't like non-consent stories, they should steer clear.

i read your story and I personally was not offended, but as a writer myself, I can see where someone might be offended. Personally, I applaud you as an author, but for consideration of others, it might not be a bad idea to tone it down a bit.

I also know that might not be what you wanted to hear, but constructive criticism should always be appreciated right?

Welcome to the club. The only problem is my story wasn’t even about non- consensual. It was in the Exhibitionist/Voyeur section.
I’ve definitely come to the conclusion that if the ‘Bi Girls’ had half a brain cell between them…they’d be dangerous.
:D

Do you suppose they've written stories. My god, what I'd give to get my hand on those! Hehehe

For what my lowly opinion is worth, I don't agree. Consideration of who? Tone down what? I just don't get this at all.

I read the story, and liked it. I didn't love it, but it certainly wasn't for lack of good writing, or an interesting premise. It was just a little out of the realm of what I look for in a story, which as is the case with many readers, is admittedly narrow. For me the story was less about the sex than it was about... the situation, and I'm all for that, but in this case, the situation didn't get me excited. Clearly that's just a matter of taste.

However, the idea of bad_girl23 "toning down" her story for the "consideration of others" just seems completely ludicrous to me. Lit's submission guidelines are slightly more restrictive than I would like in some ways, but I think it's important to defend those "fantasies of control" we have, especially within the confines of what Lit allows, and as an author I'd have big issues toning myself down for the sake of what I THINK might offend the readers. As others have pointed out, if readers don't want to read this stuff, they shouldn't venture into the nc/reluc category. If what you do is well written, carefully conceived and feels right in your heart, there will be an audience for it. Write what you feel. Write what you are excited about, and to heck with the people who might get "offended". There are just as many who will love it.

Right or wrong, that's what I say. But then, I'm not privy to all the previous debates that have no doubt been waged on Lit about "acceptable content". However, I do respect Laurel and Manu's decisions in this regard. It's their site--their choice.

I've made one foray into the Non-consent field. The story came about because I had come up with an idea for a twist on the standard theme and wanted to try it out. Imagine my surprise when the very first feedback email I received took me strongly to task for "encouraging dangerous fantasies". I immediately took a hasty look to make sure the second half of the story was still as I remembered writing it. Since it was the same, I'm assuming the feedback writer either didn't read the entire story, didn't read the story at all or possibly had qualms about an attempted rapist being mistreated by his intended victim.

I feel the pain...

I've written several pieces, many in the Non-Consent field. And it amazes me some of the feedback I get. The hostility and bigotry is amazing.

I've not had the "pleasure" of being dissed by the "bi-girls", but I might guess that they are jealous that no one would think them attractive enough to just take?

I am contantly surprised that readers feel that someone is putting agun to their heads, and making them read the story they do not like. What ever happened to the BACK button???

Keep up the good work!

Mind if a newbie joins the discussion? Hope not!

I just found the Lit a few weeks ago and was fascinated by the diversity of the stories and the quality of (some of) the writing. I found some stories and story lines that I liked and some that I didn't. What I found interesting was that some of the stories I found most disturbing were also the ones I found most enjoyable to read. I'd have to say that many that I've looked at in the non-consent category fit the description.

As I said I haven't been here long. I've only read maybe 10 - 15 of the non-consent genre. About half did nothing for me. The others elicted a reaction. To me, that is a sign that the writer succeeded. Don't know anything of the bi girls, but unless they are just making a totally knee jerk reaction without reading, if I were the author I'd smile and pat myself on the back for doing something well enough to get a reaction.

p.s, having submitted three stories and gotten all of one comment I envy you on that alone. Votes are nice but feedback helps us all get better.

Not at all! Everyone is welcome to do their venting. Venting is good for the soul, I say.

I so agree with you. Often its the most unexpected fantasies that create a response - I suppose its something to do with the whole "forbidden" thing. Or maybe its just repression. Who knows. The point is, everyone has a right to express themselves, and those who respect that, just don't get it.

By the way - I've just read one of your stories. You're good. And hey, now you have more feedback! ;)

Thanks bad_girl. That was my first ever effort. I'm working on another now but it feels to similar. Took a shot at something in Gay Male category that I thought came out okay but each time I look at it I see where I could have done something better. Writing and perfection sure make uneasy bedfellows LOL. If you'd care to look I'd be interested in feedback or suggestions.

Hi,FB, and welcome to Lit. I feel really gypped because I have never gotten panned by this pair and I have 76 items on Lit. Maybethey like my stories (Horrors!) Maybe they think I just write stroke and I am therefore beneath their contempt. If that is it, I would be inclined to agree with them.

If you don't like it***Don''t Read IT!

Hello All.

I find this discussion interesting. It hits upon alot of what's wrong today in the world.

People who don't like a particular thing (Sex, Porn, Smoking, Chewing Gum--Whatever) wan't to keep others from enjoying it.

Internet porn is a prime example. If parents took care of their kinds instead of using the computer as a baby sitter (same with TV) thy would know what their child is doing.

I am a real Political Conservative but hate censorship in any form. I believe in free choice (and the government not giving my money to people who haven't earned any of their own.)

People are responsible for their choices. If you don't like something don't go there or use the X button in the right hand corner.

I will now get off my soapbox.

Thanks,
Rob Conners
