Hustler unwelcome in Indianapolis

I received the news today that Larry Flint had been in Indianapolis looking for a location to open a Planet Hustler superstore, in typical Midwestern fashion the city elders quickly circled the wagons, gathered up all the livestock and told Mr.Flint to go elsewhere. What I find disturbing about this is the city council here was willing to pass 'emergency' measures to keep out a constitutionally protected venue of speech without so much as a public notice or referendum. Mind we welcome every sporting event, national convention and cultural celebration without as much scrutiny, how can one adult bookstore be so threatening to a city such as this.....For the record, Indianapolis has less than one half-dozen dedicated adult bookstores, I'd say for a major city that's very telling about the mindset here.....

*snicker*

*suppressed laugh*

*ROFLMAO*

sorry.

Seriously though it is pretty bad here.

Everyone is always spouting off about "family values" and "morality" it makes me sick.

In my city they are doing everything in their power to make sure another strip club doesn't open up here. It's in a strip mall type of location, far away from the road, nearby schools, homes. Yet the conservative powers that be have made it into another NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) issue.

This is the same city that turns down offers for a nearby power plant thats not even close to the city limits, a privately owned prison,etc... Sure they might not be "model" businesses but they would bring in much needed jobs.

I am so sick of these corn-fed backwards ass ways of most Midwesterners. That is why I MUST LEAVE!

Blood over sex

To further update this thread, allow me to toss this in for consideration.....A few weeks ago a 'sporting' event was scheduled to be held in the city, it was initially billed as a martial arts tournament open to all local competitors. In reality it was one of the popular no-holds-barred street brawling shows, needless to say the owners of the facility that was rented to host the event were appalled but the same city fathers saw no reason to swoop down upon it with the same rightous vigor it did over Mr. Flynt and the situation 'quietly' played itself out.....I guess the moral here is spill all the blood you want in Indianapolis in the name of entertainment but how dare you allow even think of using any for an honest erection.....

Embarrassing isn't it

Indianpolis, better know as the Amateur Sports capital if America, that should explain things a bit....
