HOW’S THAT HOPEY-CHANGEY STUFF WORKIN’ OUT FOR YA? (CONT’D): 7 Years After Recession Started, Only 65 U.S. Counties Out Of More Than 3000 Have Recovered.

National employment surpassed 2007 levels during 2014 and the U.S. gross domestic product had fully recovered from the recession by 2011. But the national unemployment rate was 5.6% in December compared with 5% when the recession began seven years earlier. And housing values in much of the country have yet to fully return.

The recovered counties are largely located in energy-rich areas and have small populations. Of the 65 recovered counties, 24 are in Texas and 16 are in North Dakota. The others are generally in the middle of the country, including nine in Minnesota and eight in Kansas.

None of the recovered counties has more than 500,000 residents.

Hmm. Related item here. “Before the recession, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projected we would have 5 million more jobs at the end of 2014 than we actually do. It also projected that the GDP would be more than 11 percent higher in 2014 than it is now. This translates into a difference in annual output of roughly $2 trillion or more than $6,000 per person. They predicted that wage and salary income would be roughly 20 percent higher than it is today. Many economists had similar projections.”

It has more to do with the "RED" Governors and state legislatures than anything else. Look at Oklahoma by way of example. Louisiana is about to tumble and expose Bobby Jindal's failure there as well.

the ONLY reason why there has even been an upturn is cause of fracking....(OK, btw)

and Obola is killing that

When Obama touts low gas prices tonight...he won't tell you one reason is 92M sitting home w/out a job don't have a lot of demand for gas.

Shot: Obama Touts eBay During SOTU As An Example Of Booming Economy – Chaser: Less Than 24 Hours Later eBay Lays Off 2,400 Workers…

D’oh!

Via Free Beacon:

THE POLITICO reports that President Obama, during his State of the Union address on Tuesday, gave shouts outs to a number of American companies in an effort to highlight the strength of the U.S. economy. Nearly all of those companies, it turns out, are big political spenders and have contributed heavily to Democrats.

One of those companies was eBay, which Obama cited as an example of how “millions of Americans [are working] in jobs that didn’t even exist 10 or 20 years ago.” That now seems like an unfortunate choice, because less than 24 hours after Obama’s speech, eBay announced it was cutting 2,400 jobs, or about 7 percent of its workforce. Investors welcomed the layoffs, and the company’s stock jumped more than 4 percent on the news.

The next President will discover that everything touched by the Regime will have to be un-fucked.

Sort of like Kansas and its failed trickle down experiment. Loss of jobs, loss of people, loss of revenue and Brownback still insists his state is doing great.

Considering the financial nightmare Bush left this country in (loss of 40 million jobs, stock market cratering 50%, $700 billion of taxpayer money given, not loaned, to banks and Wall Street firms so they could pay their bonuses, worst recession in 80 years), I'll take this uninspiring President over the last one. Stock market is doing great, people are getting back to work, unemployment is dropping

I'm not sure how much longer Republicans can claim to be good for the economy when the facts show the complete opposite.

The same with protecting this country. Remind which party occupied the White House when the worst terrorist attack in this nation's history occurred?

PRESIDENT GOLDMAN SACHS HAS BEEN GOOD FOR WALL STREET, BUT NOT FOR ORDINARY AMERICANS. EVEN MIDDLE-CLASS BLACKS ARE SUFFERING.

African Americans for decades flocked to Prince George’s County to be part of a phenomenon that has been rare in American history: a community that grew more upscale as it became more black.

The county became a national symbol of the American Dream with a black twist. Families moved into expansive new homes, with rolling lawns, nearby golf courses and, most of all, neighbors who looked like them. In the early 2000s, home prices soared — some well beyond $1 million — allowing many African Americans to build the kind of wealth their elders could only imagine.

But today, the nation’s highest-income majority-black county stands out for a different reason — its residents have lost far more wealth than families in neighboring, majority-white suburbs. And while every one of these surrounding counties is enjoying a strong rebound in housing prices and their economies, Prince George’s is lagging far behind, and local economists say a full recovery appears unlikely anytime soon.

The same reversal of fortune is playing out across the country as black families who worked painstakingly to climb into the middle class are seeing their financial foundation for future generations collapse. Although African Americans have made once-unthinkable political and social gains since the civil rights era, the severe and continuing damage wrought by the downturn — an entire generation of wealth was wiped out — has raised a vexing question: Why don’t black middle-class families enjoy the same level of economic security as their white counterparts?

Hopey-changey!
