A man was convicted of raping a 4-year-old girl, but his punishment has now been eased, since the judge thinks that the girl wasn't actually molested by the man's actions, as she was sleeping at the time...

The fact that something like that can happen in this day and age...*aching sigh* I give up...

Oh my fucking GOD. That just out right pisses me off!

I know a man who is on the sex offender registry and has had his life ruined because a 13 year old girl was pissed at him for making her behave. The girl, her sister and her friends came up with a plan to get him out of the house. They created some innuendos, had him investigated, arrested and charged with molestestation. He served 45 days. His crime? Inappropriate language and poor judgement. He slapped her on the ass and told her she couldn't stand in the doorway of a busy public place. His punishment? Lifetime registry. What that means is he can't step foot on school grounds, he can't live within 1000 feet of ANY school, daycare or public park, and it's hell to get a job or a place to live.

I know another man who admitted IN COURT to raping his 4 month old daughter and was suppose to be on the registry for only 10 years. 10 fucking years. And he never registered. He refused. I don't recall his time served, but I know it wasn't enough.

Where the fuck is the justice in that?!

Anyone besides me feeling the urge to throw a blanket party or two?

*sighs*

I know that violence really isn't the answer, and I know I've said this before... but gods help anyone who ever touched my kids. Nothing short of divine intervention could save them from me.

What's really sad? If this child's parent(s) took it in their own hands to defend their child, they'd be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. When did we start protecting the criminals and letting the innocents suffer for the sins of others?

I don't like the world right now...

We started doing that when we realized, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that often those we saw as criminals were actually innocent, and those we saw as innocent were actually the criminals. Case in point: the Salem Witch trials.

I'm not defending the person Svenska is posting about. I know nothing of the case save what she posted, but the truth of the matter is: Dishonesty has a way of destroying everything, and that's what this is an example of. Time has passed, and those in the wrong are becoming mre and more adept at appearing in the right. Aversely, those who value right are becoming more and more uncertain as to how to preserve it. Not to mention the simple fact that serving right has lost its value to our overall society, which totally fucks things up.

In short, I guess I should say that right and wrong have acquired too much of a gray area. That and our lack of genuine concern over acting "right" has become less important than getting what we want.

To respond to what Svenska originally posted: I have to wonder how this girl managed to sleep through the entire ordeal. Do you have a link to an article or anything?

When liberals figured out how many of them it took to pass laws.

Oh, snap.

Here's the link , but it's in Swedish, so I doubt it makes sense to you...

In short, it explains that a man molested his girlfriend's daughter in her sleep, and the court feels that the man shouldn't need to pay anything at all, because since the girl was asleep, she wasn't really molested. Shes getting 25.000:- SEK, though, out of the kindness of the man's heart...

A psychologist is also interviewed, and he explains that many kids pretend to sleep while they are being molested, because they're afraid to say or do anything. (And because they try to hide from their own fear by pretending that it's a bad dream, perhaps? But that's just my opinion.)

they also pee the bed to frighten off their attackers...make themselves vomit...anything to fend off this touching.
it makes me ill that anyone could touch a child...awake or sleeping. in fact, this whole thing has me shaking...too close to home.
wonder what they'll do the next time he does this.

I was watching an episode of Veronica Mars (great show btw) the other day and they showed a father luring his daughter's boyfriend into his house by inviting him to dinner and then beating him into a bloody pulp for hitting his daughter. I get the impression that the viewer was supposed to feel shocked at the outburst of violence, but I was completely on his side.

Call me psychotic, but anyone who touches a child or a woman, who hurts them knowing their superior strength and power guarantees them tyranny had damned sure better not show their face near me.

That news report's just... horrifying.

Call me old fashioned. Call me barbaric. Call me what ever the hell you wish. If I ever catch a person raping another I will personal castrate or otherwise physicaly destry them with what ever dull object happens to be handy.

Public Castration with a rusty Cheese Grater is too kind for animals like this. (And animals they are.)

I think, you're very close to right QC. To me though, the problem is, that there is a gray area, in right and wrong. To deny it exists, is to foster a tyranny of law. To give it too mucch sway, is to foster injustice of doubt.

Judges are human, and to judges we give an uncommon amount of freedom to exercise their perogatives, in defference to those gray areas.

Sadly, the only way to know for sure if the man or woman on the bench has common sense and wisdom is to see what they do when cases come before them.

The defenses rapists give which somehow pass muster with judges and juries go beyond what any human with a working cerebrum would allow. It goes beyond stupidity into some pure connected evil that is apparently shared among a portion of our people. Some blindness to rape that is not revealed in the mere shouting of revulsion. Some little tick in the heads of a frightening number which goes, they must have deserved it, little shits.

Stating that she was asleep, so it wasn't rape goes beyond the pale. Any of us would be physically laughing at the sheer audacity before being physically restrained by the baliff once we lunged at them screaming "You piece of shit". It's why we aren't allowed to serve as jurors anymore...Sigh.

The common trope among older victims is that she was a slut. The victim is put on trial and checked to see if she ever enjoyed a sex act in her life. If so, then she couldn't have been raped. The argument that a woman wearing sexy clothes did not get raped is also common. Sexy clothes equal consent. And if you were on a date with what raped you or worse went to a party where that man was present and aren't fabulously wealthy, you have a near zero percent chance of convicting the scumbag. Guys are actually willing in public to voice their opinion that date rape claims are the whiny revengeful things men-hating women do to get back at them for unfulfilling sex or perhaps because they are psycho women who didn't understand it was one time only. They will not prosecute a fellow brother.

This is all if it does reach court which is rare. Rape cases are a glorious mirror in which our human souls don't look as shiny as we like to pretend. Perhaps we could blame residual memory of the Salem Witch Trial (that we don't want to punish a good rah rah man on the statement of a young woman cause what if she was just being evil), but it goes too far deep for that bullshit to fly. When someone can be videotape themselves and their friends sodomizing your beaten unconscious body with a pool cue and a jury is almost completely unconvinced that it was not consensual even when you bothered to take the time and suffer a long stream of publicized personal attacks and were forced to change schools and everything in the world except the golden hand of God states that it was rape.

At that point it isn't law. It isn't another case of criminals having rights while victims don't. It isn't bad laws being exploited by evil men defending evil men.

At that point it's sin. It's systematic sin deep within those we would call neighbors and countrymen. A systematic unspoken pact to fuck over women and children because they are weak and men are strong. A deep and unabiding horror that infects the mind and allows them to blame laws or fears or half-a-dozen other bullshit that we know wouldn't stop us from physically shredding their faces in front of the baliff.

With news like this optimism falls hard and hate hard to refrain from.

Agreed, and agreed again. I guess I'm just not civilized enough to forgive and forget... I have no sympathy for rapists in any way shape or form.

Those who choose children... babies, in this case... as their victims make me want to take my kids and move to remote parts of the world. I have yet to hear of a squirrel or deer or grizzly bear raping a child.

I don't think many people are, especially when those victims are close to us. I think something we should consider in our hostility toward these people is our powerlessness to stop it. We can't protect them from harm in most cases, merely become angry after the fact.

True, though grizzly bears have been known to eat a few. Just something to think about.

Let's not overlook the point here, Luc. A child, not a woman, was abused. You have to bear in mind that every time a child is abused, a man is not the guilty party. It's happened several times where the opposite was the case. Remember too, that the guilty party is different in either case. In one, it's a rapist, and the other it's a child molester. They're very different kinds of sick (though I'm not denying that some of them are equally sick in both ways).

It's not as simple as attacking men and the system they created as an answer to a young child being wronged. Yes, the system needs to be changed in many ways, and yes, often women and children are victimized, but I'm a man, and so are you. I've never committed such an act, to woman or child. Generalizing about the system and blaming me, among others for it's result... Well, isn't that like blaming white men today for slavery? It ended with the Civil War, in 1865. I was born in 1977.

Pardon my directness, but I'm a little sick of it.

It ended formally in 1865. The effects of it has still been seen in my lifetime. And I was born in -77 too.

But you're right. Injustices originating in the past is not my fault. It is however my responsibility to take a step back and ask, what part of my current priviledges compared to others in life are result of such injustices, and what can I do for those that are still suffering the effects of those past injustices? Not because I'm a man. But because I'm a human.

And I don't disagree with that. Nor have I ever, but there's a difference between trying to fix what exists today because I'm a person, just like everyone else, and taking responsibility for what has happened because I'm male, or white, or whatever else I may have in common with someone who did something I have no control over.

Just a pointing out...

It is entirely possible for a man to be raped by a woman. It's not AS common, but it can and does happen. The victim, no matter what sex, is usually the one to get the short end of the stick. For all the therapy and support groups and survivor applause that there may be available, not every woman or man has those options available or feasible for them. Not everyone has someone willing to fight for them, or someone able to support them. And sometimes, especially in the case of male victims, they're so ashamed that they could be the victim in something like this, they won't even acknowledge a need for any of the above.

Not too long ago, the country duo Big&Rich did this song. The video is beautiful, and very touching. The song, as they say at the beginning of the video, is dedicated to one of their sisters, who was a victim. I've had this song on my playlist since Svenskaflicka put this up and I read it.

"Holy Water"

Somewhere there's a stolen halo
I use to watch her wear it well
Everything would shine wherever she would go
But looking at her now you'd never tell

Someone ran away with her innocence
A memory she can't get out of her head
I can only imagine what she's feeling
When she's praying
Kneeling at the edge of her bed

And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now
And hold, hold, hold me like holy water
Holy water

She wants someone to call her angel
Someone to put the light back in her eyes
She's looking through the faces
And unfamiliar places
She needs someone to hear her when she cries

And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now
And hold, hold, hold me like holy water
Holy water

She just needs a little help
To wash away the pain she's felt
She wants to feel the healing hands
Of someone who understands

And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now
And hold, hold, hold me
And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now
And hold, hold, hold me like holy water
Holy water
