Hurricane Frances

No School Today!!!!!!

There was no power at my school when i got there this morning and about 15 minutes later the principal came in and said we were closed for the day.

There were power lines and trees down in a couple of places as i drove to work and even more as i returned home.

Interestingly, the bridge near my house that normally floods when it rains was clear.

WD are you underwater yet?

Well, I'm kind of on top of a hill, but it is raining hard. The radar on the weather channel was a sea of green. Hope you don't lose power.

Dad made it home to Miami ok. He should have stayed there, as they had virtually no damage. We are under flood and tornado watches here in SC. A couple of funnel clouds have touched down to the south of me, but nothing here so far.

We're okay! Was about 46 miles from us -- besides a few upturned trees we managed to have power -- we're in West Boca and by miracle of miracles we're okay, although we're investing in some hurricane shutters -- so I traded earthquakes for hurricanes...At least it is a short season. With earthquakes there isn't one. We don't have school today either and still have a curfew...bleh...

Glad to hear others are safe!

It's now in the all day drizzle phase. Didn't lose power, but my satellite is all messed up.... my choices are local TV, ESPN, CNN, or TNT. It's a conspiracy....... all the Turner channels and nothing i want to see

The sea of green is breaking up somewhat on the radar. Guess i'll have to go to work tomorrow.

Is that a real thing or did you just make that up?

It's a term that I heard one of the forecasters use on the ship when I was in the navy.

Well Ivan the terrible is heading toward Louisiana -- so I am hoping it peters out -- damn things...argh argh argh. But at least the east coast of Florida gets a reprieve - sigh. I just finished putting my house back together. I hate hurricanes. bleh bleh bleh.

I was in the house (and outside naked in the back yard) during Charley
I was out of town during Frances, in Atlanta at DragonCon with Imi, and we ended up driving home thru the storm
House has more damage, most of the roof gone now, and extensive damage at the store *sigh*
So lots of clean up to do

Oh James! I am so sorry to hear about your damage -- I had no idea you're here in Florida too! We just moved here from California in late June. I hope you guys have good insurance... :( What town are you in? I am assuming you were close to the eye path? Good to hear from you though -- many prayers and hugs to you!
