New update from Sophie -

As bad luck would have it, her computer got fried in the heat of her apartment while it sat there waiting for her, so she won't be back online as quickly as she had hoped.

The good news is that she and her family have moved into a rental house that has a yard and is about the same size as her last place. They don't have any living room furniture at this point, because theirs was all damaged, but they have beds and bedding, etc. They're sitting on the floor and happy to be in their own space.

This is the first year that her kids are going to be exposed to cold weather, and even some snow. I know that at least one person mentioned that having some winter clothes and maybe coats that they might be able to pass on. Sophie said that she and the kids would be grateful for any of that stuff that people might be able to share. Her kids' sizes are as follows:

Oldest boy - size 10
Middle boy - size 4T
Baby girl - 2T

For those of you who thought you might have toys to share, she said that really only the little girl's (age 18 months) stuff got ruined. She specifically mentioned the MagnaDoodle (her daughter's favorite toy) and some Barbie stuff.

That should be about it.

Unless of course, you have an old or extra computer you can share. Sophie is currently enrolled in a distance program to obtain her degree in library sciences (won't she be the sweetest naughty librarian ever??) and her next assignment is due in 2 weeks. Up till now, she's been staying at her mom's and doing her homework there. But now that they've moved, she's not sure how well that's going to fly.

I have a Celeron 1 ghz I can bump up the Ram to 512 or so and get her a decent hard drive too. Won't be great for Everquest or World of Warcraft but it'll get her on-line and back with us.

That's a whole lot better than what I've got laying around. I was thinking of systems I had, but most are so 'old', K6/2's. I hope that would work for her.

Just got in touch with her. It may be as simple as a video card or power supply. Which I have both of.

Hopefully we'll hear back from her and send either parts or computer, whatever she needs when she needs it.

Great news. I've got a 64m Nvidia PCI that I have never been able to use if it will help. AT power supply might be possible, but not ATX.
