Hunger and Adoption.

I rarely sleep at night. So I watch a lot of infomercials and such. Lately I'm seeing a shitload of stuff begging money to buy food for foreign kids, and nearly nothing speaking of hungry children right here in America. Hell, the local grocery store is running a drive for kids in a country that I don't remember the name of. We spend billions shipping our food all over the world for relief. We have sooooo many hungry kids here, why don't we attack that problem first? Really.

Also, a friend of a friend recently adopted a kid from china. Actually went to China for her. Again, we have millions of orphans here, why not stop that problem first?

Just curious.

the poverty level in the united states is enough for families to live off of quite well in 3rd world countries.

Very true, but those people aren't living in third world countries, they are living here therefor they are still suffering, still hungry, still homeless, etc.

Well there are children here to adopt......

and I think we should start thinking of our own country... Not that I have anything against adopting overseas...but there are children here that would love a home...They are not all *babies* and they might have some problems but they still would love to be loved...they adapt very easily... How do I know I adopted three children and none were babies......:)
