Ok, this is not to discuss the denotations of humiliation and humility, rather the connotations. Reading the message boards, I have difficulties interpreting what the emotions described really are especially with the term "humiliation" thrown in.

When I think of the term "humiliation", I think of it as an emotional pain - the kind that makes you want to crawl into a fetal position and away from everybody else. I know this is probably extreme, but this is what comes to mind. It gets the wrong image - whether it be leashes or golden showers. It always brings the image of emotional pain - the wrong type of pain.

These issues interest me, but the words used make it harder to wrap my head around. I know it is about about the humility. To me, the word humility strikes positive connotations to me. Gaining the sense of humility to me sounds more desirable, though literally it is the same thing as humiliation. Just that humiliation sounds... more acute, more drastic, less desirable. It's odd isn't it. These connotations.

I am just wondering what you're thoughts are on this.

Matter of Perspective

If you exhibit humility, it's a good thing.

If you get humbled, it's a bad thing.

Kinda like the difference between making love and getting raped?

I don't know. But getting humbled is not bad. We're talking connotations and not denotations, hence semantics and clarifying things here.

Depends on what side of the fence you're sitting i suppose, and still a matter of perspective. If you humiliate a pyl in private, does that make the humiliation easier to take than in public? Think mindfuck for a minute, finding that chink in the armor of self.

If you're going for thermal meltdown, use a hammer and chisel.

If you want cooperation, mmm the sweetest nectar, open slowly with full consent. The cherry on top? The pyl realizing they enjoyed the humiliation.

We've had a few discussions about humiliation, but not necessarily in relation to discussing the feelings behind the act of humiliation vs. feeling/expressing a state of humility.

i am not quite sure what you're asking X. Are you asking for thoughts on the feelings behind humiliation vs. humility? Or are you asking for elaborations on the differences between humiliation and humility, or further, how the two are the same, yet different?

i'll do my best to answer after i get a sense of what you are seeking to discuss. Thanks in advance.

For me the meaning of humility is not bad, nor related closely to humiliation in feeling...more so it is feeling humbled in a good way. Humiliation IMO is to be made to feel lower than another, or others, either privately or publicly. Now for me that can be an ultimate joy and very much what I want, but only at the hands or through the actions of my Master. If someone else attempts to humiliate me, not only is it not going to be a good feeling, nor one I consider acceptable, but will also draw the unwelcome attention of my owner to the person who presumes they have that right. For many in the lifestyle, humiliation is a desired state, both short term and more permanent.
