Ok, this is not to discuss the denotations of humiliation and humility, rather the connotations. Reading the message boards, I have difficulties interpreting what the emotions described really are especially with the term "humiliation" thrown in.
When I think of the term "humiliation", I think of it as an emotional pain - the kind that makes you want to crawl into a fetal position and away from everybody else. I know this is probably extreme, but this is what comes to mind. It gets the wrong image - whether it be leashes or golden showers. It always brings the image of emotional pain - the wrong type of pain.
These issues interest me, but the words used make it harder to wrap my head around. I know it is about about the humility. To me, the word humility strikes positive connotations to me. Gaining the sense of humility to me sounds more desirable, though literally it is the same thing as humiliation. Just that humiliation sounds... more acute, more drastic, less desirable. It's odd isn't it. These connotations.
I am just wondering what you're thoughts are on this.
