I think the good shit that will come out of genetic research will prove - by far and way - to be mostly benificial.

They're talkin' about "custom tailored medicine" for your very own genetic make-up.

Spunkman, that's one splice I'd like to see! Then again, A Brave New World really freaks me out. Give me chance, fate, happenstance or whatever you call it. A world full of perfect people gives me a sickening feeling in the pit of my stomach. human genome a good thing or just to better the genetic, ethnic, biological weapondry for the new world order to get rid of all but the elite. Those weapons are already here, genome study just enhances the targeting system.

Just think of it a weopon that you can program to take out people wtih green eyes or red hair or any genetic sequence you want and you can program it to be perfectly neutral to any one else that does not have the specific genes that activate its biological payload.

and the biological payload could be designed to look like a severe flu, hiv, anything, it can be made to llok like anything. it can be programed to deliever any desease to any one at any time.

On TLC/Discovery they showed that they already can code thier wepons to race, genome study triggers it PER PERSON.

There's far less to worry about than previously thought. It turns out we only have about 30,000 genes. Before the genome was mapped out it was speculated that we had something like 200,000. This means without a shadow of a doubt that most aspects of human behavoiur are affected by our environment and not our DNA.

So I guess its not really that scary at all.

Why have we gotten to the point that we look for every evil in science? Did we not used to celebrate and worship knowlege and the betterment of our condition? I would like to progress from Hobbes' description of the human condition and knowing more about how we work, live, and die sure would alleviate some of that. I say celebrate the possibilities. If we begin to fear science, then do we next abhore truth?
