just playing devil's advocate here but, honestly? the character in the book is black and the name given him is by white people, it's not his birth name. it's derogatory. you, on the other hand, are not black so you would have no reason to identify with that character, even if you posted under his authentic character name. you chose the name because it's loaded, not out of admiration. don't you ever get tired of yourself?

Spearchucker was in the movie and the series as well. Didn't last long on tv but he was decent minor character in the movie. The book overall kinda sucks IMO. The series is where it's at. Funnier and far more depth that either book or movie.

That being said, unless you threw the javelin then using that name is racist. Deal with it.
