Sheng Xue, a Chinese-born Canadian author, says the reason for Beijing’s escalating reaction to Meng’s arrest is that it exposes China’s flagship company to scrutiny.
“Huawei is the high-tech nuclear submarine of the tyrannical Chinese Communist Party. The arrest of Meng Wanzhou in Canada brings this submarine to the surface, so this makes the Chinese regime very frightened and angry,” Sheng Xue said.
What a marvelous analogy.
Jacob Kovalio, an associate professor at Carleton University’s Department of History and an Asia researcher, says Beijing is worried that if Meng is extradited to the Untied States, she could “spill the beans” under interrogation, which could have very bad implications for the regime.
Just after Meng was detained at the request of the U.S., Canadians Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor were detained in China and are still being held there without legal representation. And Canadian Robert Schellenberg was retried on his previous drug smuggling sentence of 15 year and given a new sentence of death.
This is a great article exposing what Huawei is really all about. Like all China business entities, it is nothing but a tool of the Communist Party. There is no such thing as a private, capitalist company in China. Even American companies doing business in China must agree by law to reveal all their proprietary info, for techcos like Apple all their source code, whenever the CPC's Ministry of State Security demands it. The same MSS that cyberwars against any significant nation in the world.
