HTML tags in stories?

I am currently submitting a series of stories that have about 1 word in each chapter that needs to be italicized. I could of course submit them in rtf format, but it gives me a weird message and makes me wonder if it will work right.

It would be so easy to just stick a couple of <i></i> tags in there and paste the text! Does anyone know if that will work?

You can preview your story on submittal to make sure.

That's how you do it. I submit all my stories by copy & paste, so have html tags for anything that requires it. You can also just upload the file if it's Word. Personally, I like doing one final read-through on Lit's format. I often change a handful of little things during submission when I see how it will look on Lit, which is why I copy & paste.

Thanks! I will go ahead and post with the html tags then... just as soon as I have managed to exert my authority over this lump of dough that is supposed to turn into bread... wish me luck!

Just remember to check the results in the preview screen. It will appear exactly the way it does when it's posted by Lit. If you make a mistake on the tag, you don't want your entire story to be in italics.
