New Guy here. <hi, new guy>

I've been poking around the site for a bit after being referred here by a couple of authors on another site. I've got a long running Potterotica fic I've been been working on in bits and pieces for years. I was considering posting it here, since many of the best Potterotica sites have been disappearing over the last 3-4 years. However, I see there's very little HP fanfic here, despite the amount of other fanfic I see here.

Is this deliberate, a matter of culture, or just happenstance?

Deliberate.

If there's any HP erotica here, it's an oversight. Laurel has made a point of not allowing any fanfic where the characters in the source material are underage, even if you age them to the legal limit in your fanfic.

Harry Potter, Pokemon, etc.

^^^this.

You might get away with something based on canonically-adult characters like Dumbledore/McGonagall, but I'd recommend PMing Laurel beforehand to check that. Given that the books focus on children, she might have concerns about any HP erotica at all. (Or maybe not. It's not something I've tried myself.)

That makes sense. Thank you for clearing that up.
I have found a couple where the age is indeterminate and a couple where the characters were clearly underage. Given the clear statements about the intent of the site and the writers' guidelines, should these be reported or does that just make me a dick?

No, it doesn't make you a dick. You should report them. Laurel approves around 70 stories per day, so all she has time to do is skim. Readers catching when she lets something slip through the cracks is a necessity.

If the story depicts under-age characters having sex, report away. If they're just side characters or if it's just reported without detail ("I lost my virginity at fourteen") then that's usually permissible, though I'm not certain whether Laurel would feel the same way about a story in a setting that's canonically child-focussed.

They sent you here? AO3 is a much better choice of archive for HP erotica.

See now, that's the ursine advantage. No one is silly enough to write fan fiction about Smokey's grandson. :D

Aside:
I cannot see anyone writing fan-fiction about me:

"As HP stood waiting in Chester Station, a woman walking by caught his eye. Well, maybe not walking per se; the way she strode through the station in her high heels was closer to a violation of the public decency statutes than to a gait. He had no trouble undressing her in his mind -- her short orange dress fit like a second skin. And no trouble at all in addressing her..."
