How would your true story be rated

Have you every wondered if you posted a story based on your r/l what kind of ratings it would get? Being that the readers didn't know that the story was actually about you.

Low.

While it would have the potential to become the first Lit story to sink below 1.00, it'd be so dull most readers would be catatonic long before they approached the tedious end. So the question wouldn't be how low the rating might be, but whether any readers would be awake at the end to vote. :(

ps-4-bs: A few of my stories are kinda, loosely, sorta, semi based on things I've either done or wish I'd done. You think that might have something to do with my never getting a W or E?

Maybe counting the views would be a better indicator. I toyed with the thought, but somethings I'm embarrassed to admit to myself. I figure it would get comments like "bomb coming to your house" the half way normal readers would probably rate it low.

No, I can't say I've ever wondered about this.

I cannot inflict that on innocent readers who come to Lit. for some sort of relief - at least I think they do. IF I wrote and posted a story of my RL adventures (what adventures?), and that's a BIG if, the ratings would be in the negative to the extent of getting into the minus range and then I'd be extremely worried about the mental health of the readers who happened to read it.

Okay, I have a dull life. So what?

True Sex Story from me?

I'd say it depends on..

What part of my life are we talking about here? To my knowledge I've had too many near death experiances in my life to put down here. More than my share of women as friends, and as lovers. And more than the average person's experiances in several lifetimes with different sexual acts before finding true love and settling down to one wife, and performing in all of her sexual fantasies there after. With the added weight of dealing with her children from a previous marriage before adding our own to thicken the plot. Not bragging here, just being open, and forthright. I've lived through war, peace, and the terror of child rearing, and still been able to keep a sense of humor. I've walked the decks of mighty ships as both officer, and crewmember, and actually flown an airplane or two. Been to foreign lands, and coast to coast here in America. And through all of this I have learned one very important thing. That while we are all the same, no two people are exactly alike.

Until recently I was a PG 17.

Lately I've fallen under a bad influence and the rating is now between this:

and this:

Mine are doin' great!! Getting awesome feedback :)) Am WAY happy........... Was a little scary to write actual events. I've always written from real life stories, altho I have submitted only two so far. Readers are telling me to 'please keep writing,' so that is encouraging... I wasn't sure what kind of response I would get.

I want to 'branch out' and write a story that comes from my imagination - not that there isn't a lot of imagination in my stories - but you know what I mean... I haven't tried that yet. Too much technical writing behind me, I guess.

Depends on which part of my life we're talking about.
Stories could range from boooring to rejected for too explicit content.

I can't stop laughing since just before reading this thread I read two PM's asking if I was finished yet with the requested real life story I'm writing.......*laughs softly*

Whisp :rose:

I'm with Lin on this one... Depends. I'm happy with it, though. ;)

Between depresion, mental illness, physical illness and Social Anxiety Disorder Mine would do better as a case study on Web M.D.

For what it is worth.........

Very decent rating would be expected.

I think, as authors, most started using some basis for our stories from historical experiences. To see if we might share a thrilling time or situation that happened with Lit readers, albeit loosely.

Christmas story 100% fiction.

Admin stories are based on a high degree of fact.

Never having experienced incest, created stories based on partial life experiences of attractive daughter and friends.

Son's girlfriend stories are a combination of both RL and much fiction.

RL has been good, with many opportunities that could lead to stories.

Otherwise, it's all created between the walls of the mind.

My reality rated an H.
I didn't muck it up with a "This is a true story preface"

reminds me of that Navy commercial.. "If someone wrote a book about your life, would anyone want to read it?"

By subject matter, certainly, I'm pretty well traveled for a 24 year old. One war, about 7 different countries, 3 continents...

But by sexual content, it might as well be G-rated http://forums.offtopic.com/images/smilies/happysad.gif

I can still count my partners on one hand

Curate's Egg

My life story would be like the Curate's Egg quoted in a 19th century Punch cartoon - good in parts.

Much of my life would be just boring. Some parts were interesting. Some parts were like the ancient Chinese curse "May you live in interesting times".

The rating of my life story would depend on the selection of the episodes and the skill used to tell those selected episodes. I think that is a truism for most people.

A great author can make any subject interesting just as a great comic can make an audience laugh by reading a telephone directory.

If you do a synopsis of a Jane Austen novel - what happens in it? Yet Jane Austen still sells.

It ain't what you say, it's the way you say it.

If the part of my life is sexual? I've done it (only one of my stories is based totally on a real life experience), and it remains the most viewed story I have. (Reached over 100,000) It used to be rated quite high, but has slowly sunk to just below the 4.5 mark. I still receive great reviews on it.

Well, I guess that part of my life wasn't too boring. The rest? Well, the jury is still out.

Hmmmmm

Mine are all above 4.:D

On a serious note, I have been challenged to write about a true event, (very sexual), by a certain person in my life, that is the story and the person are in my life, and of course she's the main character.

I will finish it, but I doubt I'll post it here, it really is developing into something of a monster, also an embarrassment thinking back on the event. :D A bit too near the knuckle.

Most stories of my life would probably rank about 1 if that.

Hahaha,

Pops, I doubt that!

Your life would probably make the best read out of everybody that comes here.

Especially for us Lewd and Rude ones!

I started a story based on a true event, but the further into the story I got, the more boring it sounded. LOL I just couldn't put the experience down on paper. Solution? I based it on the real thing, but spiced up the sex. Adding stuff here and there, probably adding what I wished had happened...

The story rated pretty ok.

That's great! I mention this or that on the board before and Lit pals stated their opinion"*&$@#!**$@!" yep, so I've kept a low profile for a while. I was looking back over my action pics and wondered about the tales that went with them.

It sounds like, if we lived the way we imagine there would be plenty of smiles around.
