Give them good news on the economy

Manufacturing Downturn Eases in August
NEW YORK (Reuters) - A key U.S. manufacturing index posted its most significant gain in five years in August as new orders and factory production both rose, suggesting the ailing industrial sector may have endured the worst of a yearlong slump.

The National Association of Purchasing Management said on Tuesday its monthly manufacturing index rose to 47.9 in August from 43.6 in July, well above economists' forecasts of a 43.9 reading.

When companies announce they have removed their hiring freezes, I'll be much happier.

Boy howdy, am I upset. No one outside the liberal quadrant has any business sense. And just to prove this, I really want the US economy to go to hell in a hand basket. That'll teach 'em. And it won't affect me one bit. Uh huh.

But honestly - Does the report say which percentage of the economy is based on manufacturing? It's simplistic to point at one factor and conclude the economy is on an upward or downward trend. To counter, the airlines are experiencing their worst year ever. But to counter that, top law firms have just raised their starting salaries by another 30 to 50 grand (which absolutely obscene, if you ask me).

Where's the hemlock, WD?

I never said it wasn't more fun fighting over a surplus. I just think that any economy, after the bubble of the 90s, has a long way to go before it wrings itself out. I've never expected that they'd arrange a "soft landing," no matter who is/was president. And I still don't. This may curiously reflect some odd precepts about "no pain, no gain," but there are plenty of ugly numbers out there. I don't post every time the news is bad as there isn't sufficient time. I told you I'm in cash; that's not a political judgement, though of course, I have little confidence in the current Admin.

Oh... I'm so upset. I guess this means I have to leave Literotica now...

Well not to bring logic into this thread but :

Liberals are che champion of unions
Much union work is in the manufacturing sector
Why would liberals want manufacturing to go to hell?

They'd gladly sacrifice union jobs if the blame could be pinned on the republicans. Just as they are happy to sacrifice Condit over a blow job.

Get behind the drilling in the arctic wasteland if you want to support your union brothers and sisters.

If lavender is a liberal, WD, why are you telling her what 'they' would do or want?

Do you expect her to respond, "You've got me WriterDom, I'd sacrifice union jobs if it could be pinned on Republicans. Rats, foiled again!" ?
