when you are making a post, click manage attachments below where yo are writing the post. find the file on your computer, wait for it to upload and then its attached 
alternatively you can upload it to a site (where explicit material is not removed) and just post links, but attachments are better

Wouldnt it be better to upload to a 3rd party site in case you want to take the pics down later? Or can you always edit your posts anytime here?

you can remove them
You can edit your posts at any time, add more attachments, remove others....correct spelling, etc. Of course, once your pictures are out there people can save them locally so you are not truly in control of them once you make them public. Be sure that you really want to share!!
