How to... tie this:

someone spent way too long doing that. lol. if it were me, i couldn't be that close to a set of nice breasts and spend time doing macrame.

very impressive though. if i had to guess what the back looks like, i'd say that it's just the ropes passing 'round to the front with no knots, twists, etc.

OH OH OH!!!! i think i got it!

i just took another look at the picture... hard not to. ;)

i think there are three ropes involved. starting at the top, the three ropes descend, two of them are looped around the third, spun 'round the body (which is quite nice as far as i can tell), then looped around the third on the opposite side, spun back 'round the body again and that pattern repeats until you get to the desired length and/or run out of rope. i couldn't begin to guess how the bottom is tied off but if i did it, it would be with a slip knot. ;)

Okay, here is my shot at it, I think they are using a slip stitch type knot here.

If you know how to crochet its when you make a slip knot, then draw the yarn into the loop to make a chain. Only think is I think they are doing this with two sets of ropes. When they pull the loop through it is brought over her head and around her waist. Im saving the picture to see if I can figure out exactly what they did for you. Ill even get the old scout knot book if I have to! lol

To answer your question I think it would look very similar to the front. Knotted in the same mannor. I think thats where the extra ropes seem to be coming from.

This is a Shibari (rope bongage) technique that's actually quite simple. The side ropes are just twisted around the double rope coming down the front of her body. The hemp rope twisted together like that, under pressure, gives it the appearance of a braid.

I've been to quite a few rope bondage seminars and workshops, including two by Midori, one of the icons of the art.

Here are a few shibari links:
